About Me

I love music and writing and friends, and that's about it...

My Interests

Music, writing, languages (hmm, sort of have to say that, don't I?), comedy, history... I'm probably being too vague. Never mind.

I'd like to meet:

Ooo, lots of people. People I know from the internet, who I haven't met in real life yet - for many reasons, mostly geographical. People I admire... Let's just settle on Stephen Fry, for the moment. Everyone wants to meet him, don't they?

Music:

The Libertines, The Clash, Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros, Dirty Pretty Things, Babyshambles, Razorlight, The La's, The Strokes, The Holloways, Adam Green, Supergrass, Blur & Oasis (lolzes), The Coral, The Bandits, The Kills, Franz, Carbon/Silicon, 22-20s, KillCity, The Paddingtons, The White Stripes, B.R.M.C, ... Lots of bands really, but maybe only four or five songs from each, apart from those named above.

Movies:

Nothing that makes me cry! Comedy films, sci-fi, sometimes action... Couldn't tell you what my favourite film is. Withnail & I, perhaps. This Is Spinal Tap, Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas, Airplane!, the usual sci-fi ones (Alien, The Matrix, LOTR, Star Wars, etc...), I liked Ed Wood quite a lot but haven't seen it for ages, Jaws! (yay sharks!), The Pink Panther and its sequels - watched them over and over when I was little, 28 Days Later, Shaun Of The Dead, Pirates Of The Caribbean (or Johnny Depp in eyeliner in general), thought Sin City was good if a little long, Priscilla Queen Of The Desert, Saturday Night Fever, Bugsy Malone (though no other musicals ever - especially The Sound Of Music - this means you!), Boogie Nights was pretty amusing, Wilde, Carry On Up The Khyber... I should just probably stop now.

Television:

Mostly only comedy programmes, I suppose. I can recite you numerous quotes from my favourites. Blackadder, Fawlty Towers, The Young Ones, Red Dwarf... things like that. Porridge, Open All Hours, Rising Damp, The Likely Lads (and Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads?) - stuff that you're probably not supposed to admit you like, like those.., loved Queer As Folk watching it as a giggling 15 year old - slightly less credible now but still good, Police Squad - anyone seen that? I bought it on DVD last week too! It's what the Naked Gun films were based on and in some ways is far superior... what else? I used to like Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel quite a lot but not so much now, and, er, the two best theme tunes on TV were the Farscape one and the one from Maid Marian And Her Merry Men.

Books:

I've read a lot for my university courses, and that's meant I've read quite a few 'classics' of French and German literature by default, but I haven't really read much English literature to be honest.

Heroes:

When I find one, I'll let you know.

Tiffin

Eleanor introduced me to the joys of 'Tiffin' the other day. She'd made some and I didn't know what it was. I'd only ever heard of it in the context of a Carry On film (Carry On Up The Khyber, I think...

Hello there...

So it's come to this, then. I said I'd never get one of these. I suppose that proves I'll always cave in, in the end, doesn't it? Just keep going on at me enough about something...  ...
