I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I love the outdoors and nature. We hold this natural wonder in trust for future generations and must enjoy it in such a way that they will be able to do so as well (I'm a wee bit of an environmentalist).
In my recreational time I love outdoor activities - hiking, camping, X-C skiing (back-country and in-track), swimming, cycling, snowshoeing, etc. I also do some amateur photography, with film cameras.
I'm also a huge music fan, and have been involved in college radio, as well as some music journalism. Currently, I'm trying to catch as many musical acts as I can in this area - not as easy as it was to do in Toronto, let me tell you. On the upside, it's been a lot easier to get to know the artists when they're up here.
In my professional life, I am a social worker. I do youth, family, and individual counselling (as well as group facilitation) for the local addiction counselling service.
I have also had an itching bite of the political activism bug. While I was in Toronto I was heavily involved in the Peace and Anti-poverty movements, while here in Fort St. John I've mainly been doing some work with the Diversity Society and the Multicultural Society. Sometimes, though, this political itch gets a bit much, and I find myself doing some subversive consciousness-raising with friends and family.
I try to keep my friends and family aware of what's going on with me by sending out e-mail updates on a semi-irregular basis - letting them know about the latest outdoors adventure I've had; My reaction to some news story; Something funny that's happened to me, etc. Basically, many of the things that people with blogs put in them, except I refuse to blog, because it's entirely too self-absorbed navel-gazing (although I do read one, and only one, of my friends' LJ's).
If you want to get to know me any more, simply send a message.

Oh, I got bored one day and found out what Invader Zim character I was...
GIR // GIR is one of the most hilarious people on
the show. He's a robot and is SUPPOSED to be
helping Zim. His quote is "Can I be a
moongoose dog?"
Which Invader Zim character are you?

I'd like to meet:

People who are interested in outdoors activities all year round. If you're outdoorsy, give me a shout. I'm always up for doing something.

For the most part, I'm just looking for friends and activity partners. If a relationship happens as a result, cool, but I'm not hunting for one.

I'm NOT interested in adding people as friends that I have no actual connection to. If I don't know you outside of MySpace, then the way to get to know me is to SEND ME A MESSAGE, not try to add me as a friend.
