The West Haven name came from Lonnie’s younger brother Kelly Don, who wrote songs and poetry and wanted to form a band called West Haven. Tragically Kelly’s life was taken in August of 2003, when he was struck by a semi truck. So his brother’s work would not slip away, older brother Lonnie Ray and fellow songwriter Marty (who was best friends with both), vowed that come hell or high water they would not let little brother’s dream die with him. First came Jeff (the Jester King) Smith, who just happened to be the best drummer in the area. Then came Jon Rock, who was a heavy metal thrasher and picked up the rhythm. Last came L.C., who was a Marine back from O.I.F. ready to play (also playing lead guitar and vocals). Together they are the West Haven Band.
