I am here for Dating and Friends

About Me

Sarcastic, funny, outspoken, honest...decent musician....I like to spend time recording music and wishing I were outdoors (hiking, scuba diving, camping, etc.) which I don't do enough of these days. Honestly, I spend all my free time shopping for random crap for the house I just bought (money pits these damned things are). I'm a better singer than a guitarist, but I play mediocre guitar so my vocals don't sound so alone. Dogs rock...but I like cats too. I can't stand stacks of crap tucked into random corners of the house, although I'm guilty of it. I sometimes wear the same shirt more than once although I realize this is vaguely foul. But then, I work at home so clothing choices of the day are lower in priority now. I don't flush my toilet unless there's something in it that necesitates it (I like to conserve natural resources if I can). I always drive fast but only use the left lane of the freeway for passing. You should too.

My Interests

I used to have more interesting shit here before I moved to Portland, OR where I have yet to meet very many people. But in general, I like being anywhere my friends are gathered to have a good time.. red wine, blowing bubbles off the roof of a tall building at all the pedestrians below, Watching the dogs play, playing in a drum circle whether at the the bonfire or elsewhere, juggling (do a lot of this lately) and spinning poi. I also love dancing barefoot on the hardwood floors in the living room while playing guitar and forgetting that the rest of you exist for a while.

I'd like to meet:

Interesting, intelligent, independent, confident, mature, witty, charismatic people that aren't afraid to color outside the lines; I'd like to meet someone who doesn't tweak their myspace profile to list music/movies/books to impress people. I'd take a good juggling partner, I'm interested in working with an improv group (acting), doing another cabaret show (I've only acted in one), drum circles, spinning poi and most importantly, I'd like to meet some new friends in Portland that know how to dress up for a costume event and admire a good cabaret show (do that have this stuff in Portland?). I'm used to San Francisco culture, but would love to find others like me in the Northwest.

Music:

Got 10 minutes to kill?
This is me playing guitar in the living room. It's a medley of 5 different songs that include Staind, U2, Pearl Jam, Radio Head and Neil Young. Its a little dull to watch, but feel free to turn up the volume and go wash some dishes while you listen.

When I'm not listening to myself, I listen to Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Tool/Perfect Circle, Coldplay, Nick Cave, Ben Folds Five. Don't like hip-hop or R&B...it just doesn't grab me. I like any music that clearly took a decent musician to write. I listen to melody more than lyrics. I'm pretty sure I sing much better when I don't play guitar at the same time.

Movies:

Webcam Girls Go Wild ( full )

This is the way you should give out your number! All these girls are after the same guy, lucky guy. -- http://www.ameriser.com !!!! Movies that are well written, acted and directed (Pulp Fiction, Lost in Translation, American Beauty, Amalie, Dazed and Confused, Eternal Sunshine) and damn sure love to laugh..so any movie that's funny..and this is pretty wide open. Don't care for overly formulized movie plots or anything my mother would watch.

Television:

I dont' watch network TV much. I live for Netflix (I own stock in it, so go sign up fuckers) and regular installments of the Daily Show with Jon Stewart and Bill Maher on HBO. Weeds (on Showtime) is decent too. I'd rather live my own life than watch some other putz on reality TV though...i realize that America lives for this stuff, I'm just not on that band wagon.

Books:

The Coming Plague is fantastic (early 90's best seller list) Guns, Germs and Steel had some great concepts in it too. Both are non fiction but have some interesting points. Basically, I like anything that uses history as a guide to the future. For that matter, I like anything historical fiction -such as James Clavell (based on actual history). I also dig Clive Barker. And I've learned a lot from Atlas Shrugged (Anne Rand) even though I don't agree with it politically. Finally, I feel like I'm tripping everytime I read anything by Kurt Vonegut. So, I like it.

Stomach party

My step sister in Florida posted a bulletin whose subject line was "Stomach Party" (hence the name of this blog entry). Curious as to what my sister was doing with her stomach, I clicked to read her...

An online quiz that doesnt care how emo I am

I'm a very outspoken critic of our two party political system and loath the entire concept that we only have two choices.  To further my end-goal of educating the general population on the viabil...

Holy Shit I’m Funny

I just read all my old blog posts and I can honestly say I have very little memory of writing most of it.  I'm pretty damned surprised at how funny I am (or was) though.  Too bad it's buried...

Class division and birth control

I don't have children, and it's not from lack of practice.  I've just never felt this burning desire to have children, even though I apprently am supposed to feel a biological clock moving somewh...

My dog owes her life to a straw

Sarah is an old dog.  She's 14.  And for a 50 pound dog, that's a pretty ripe old age.  The old lady has arthritis in her back legs so she totally busts-ass if she tries to take stairs....

music flashback

This is a call back to any of the old dorky guys that listened to Rush back in the mid to late 80's. I was a little young, but was blessed with an older brother that's carrying the musician genes lik...

gift giving?

What's the deal with obligatory Christmas gift exchanges? Why does everyone feel obligated to give gifts once a year to everyone they know (twice if you count birthdays)? I think it would be coo...
