I used to have more interesting shit here before I moved to Portland, OR where I have yet to meet very many people. But in general, I like being anywhere my friends are gathered to have a good time.. red wine, blowing bubbles off the roof of a tall building at all the pedestrians below, Watching the dogs play, playing in a drum circle whether at the the bonfire or elsewhere, juggling (do a lot of this lately) and spinning poi. I also love dancing barefoot on the hardwood floors in the living room while playing guitar and forgetting that the rest of you exist for a while.
Interesting, intelligent, independent, confident, mature, witty, charismatic people that aren't afraid to color outside the lines; I'd like to meet someone who doesn't tweak their myspace profile to list music/movies/books to impress people. I'd take a good juggling partner, I'm interested in working with an improv group (acting), doing another cabaret show (I've only acted in one), drum circles, spinning poi and most importantly, I'd like to meet some new friends in Portland that know how to dress up for a costume event and admire a good cabaret show (do that have this stuff in Portland?). I'm used to San Francisco culture, but would love to find others like me in the Northwest.
Got 10 minutes to kill?
This is me playing guitar in the living room. It's a medley of 5 different songs that include Staind, U2, Pearl Jam, Radio Head and Neil Young. Its a little dull to watch, but feel free to turn up the volume and go wash some dishes while you listen.
When I'm not listening to myself, I listen to Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Tool/Perfect Circle, Coldplay, Nick Cave, Ben Folds Five. Don't like hip-hop or R&B...it just doesn't grab me. I like any music that clearly took a decent musician to write. I listen to melody more than lyrics. I'm pretty sure I sing much better when I don't play guitar at the same time.
I dont' watch network TV much. I live for Netflix (I own stock in it, so go sign up fuckers) and regular installments of the Daily Show with Jon Stewart and Bill Maher on HBO. Weeds (on Showtime) is decent too. I'd rather live my own life than watch some other putz on reality TV though...i realize that America lives for this stuff, I'm just not on that band wagon.
The Coming Plague is fantastic (early 90's best seller list) Guns, Germs and Steel had some great concepts in it too. Both are non fiction but have some interesting points. Basically, I like anything that uses history as a guide to the future. For that matter, I like anything historical fiction -such as James Clavell (based on actual history). I also dig Clive Barker. And I've learned a lot from Atlas Shrugged (Anne Rand) even though I don't agree with it politically. Finally, I feel like I'm tripping everytime I read anything by Kurt Vonegut. So, I like it.
