"That's Me No More" Debut CD from Jordan Doell

About Me

JORDAN DOELL - BiographyIn a family of six children, there was one musical passion gene and it went straight from father to his son Jordan. Performing from the age of seven as a country and gospel soloist, Doell later moved into rock n’ roll and gained extensive experience as he toured throughout Western Canada playing the club circuit. His powerful voice and energetic stage presence made him a crowd favourite. The last six years have seen Jordan rediscover his roots in country music and embrace its melodies and stories with new-found enthusiasm. “Classic country artists like Hank Williams, George Jones and Ray Price were the records my Dad listened to and they really mean a lot to me even now,” says Doell. “Although I’ve found my own style, I'm still influenced by those old songs". Once rediscovering his musical passion, there was no looking back. The 2007 release of his first full-length country CD “That’s Me No More” launched Jordan Doell’s premier song writing and vocal artistry. The songs are as soulful as they are fun with a smooth rock edge and effortless vocal charm. Doell’s gospel trained voice lends to the songs with a smooth but edgy sound that stays true to traditional, story telling country, in a unique and gut given way. The songs on “That’s Me No More” are personal and elicit excellent crowd response. They include the ever popular song ‘Drinkin About You', and a tender ballad called ‘I Always Will’, which is Jordan’s proposal song, dedicated to his wife Tracey. Also on the album is ‘Hankin’ It Up’ which references old Hank Williams as well as Brooks & Dunn. These songs were written with a few co-writers in and around Vancouver, while Aaron Pritchett, Mitch Merrett and Tim Taylor offered up the title track, “That’s Me No More”. Most songs on the disc were written on the road. Inspired along the lonely stretches of highway while driving a semi truck, Jordan would keep himself awake with lyrics and melodies. ‘Hankin’ it Up’ was the last song written and poured out on the I-5 southbound through Washington State. Doell has traveled to Nashville, TN and performed in some of the most famous honkytonks such as Tootsies Orchid Lounge, and The Bluebird Café. As well as his regular Lower Mainland circuit (Gabby’s Cabaret, Boone County, The Roxy, McBurnies Coffee House, Citta’s Pub and Bistro in Whistler, BC), performances include the Merrit Mountain Music Festival 2005 & 2007, Wine for the Cure and several showcases with the BC Songwriters Association. Presently Doell is touring through Western Canada and playing in all the popular clubs in Calgary, Edmonton, Banff and Saskatoon, as well as the Vancouver area. He is working on material for his second CD and will be teaming up with Gord Bamford and Bart McKay on the new record. The album will consist of an exceptional mix of songs co-written by Jordan Doell, Gord Bamford, Duanne Steel and it will feature songs from Nashville songwriters such as Byron Hill, Tim Taylor and Deric Rutan. The album is due for release in the summer of 2008. Watch for Jordan Doell on the national scene coming up to the 2008 CCMA’s and summer festival season. The focus for 2008 is on touring and recording his second record, as well as more appearances in Nashville. I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
