It's just so much more efficient to say I listen to: 103.1, KROQ and KCRW archives...isn't it?
In my cd changer today
:
Sabrosa Purr (lovely people so good!!), 1st Willowz CD..., , and Rent discs 1 & 2, Rocky Horror anniversary CD...which is kind of annoying, because of all the dialogue, but I'm trying to inspire myself to finish my musical...and something I just can't remember.
And by the way, why is it cool if Rick Rubin likes it, but when I liked it, it wasn't cool? Yeah, exactly.
Also -- Every once in a while a random band I hear out my window at Tangier. ...Love Neil Finn, Crowded House, Eddie Vedder, Eddie Vedder and Neil Finn on the same stage, Peter Gabriel, Coldplay, Rufus Wainwright, Beastie Boys, the Cure, Beatles, Prince, Go Go's (still feeling nostalgic), Badly Drawn Boy, The Donna's, Northern State (go girls!), Hedwig, Weezer, Hartwell Littjohn & His Magical Demo CD, Wilco, Beck, U2, Ray Charles, Aretha, White Stripes, the Willowz (& their good hair) Radiohead at the right time of day, crazy old 80's bands, crazy new 80's bands (Interpol) -- to be self-aware, I generally like poetic men that sing their own songs, girl bands that can kick your ass, and loud songs like "You Shook Me All Night Long" and "Pour Some Sugar On Me" that are good to sing in the car. I also kind of like Journey when it suits me. And Eminem. And, of course, Thee Makeout Party. I have their phone number. Oh, and Chris Bonno at the bowling karaoke bar...(to be continued...)
***It's been a long time since I updated this. I don't even get to watch movies any more. OK. I did see Taladega nights. I admit it. ***
My favorite movie all year has been, I think, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (**update** Congrats to Charlie Kaufman for the WGA award! wooh!!**). And The Incredibles. And The Princess Bride, having nothing to do with this year, is just so good. Someday when I have endless amounts of time I will actually write down the movies dear to my heart. But, in the meantime, there are 214 movies in my Netflix queue, and I'd rather spend whatever limited spare time I have watching them. (oh, p.s., Shaun of the Dead rocked.) And I like School of Rock. FYI.
OK, update - liked Kong, but not every bit of it...liked Munich (and Eric Bana is hot. I feel guilty thinking that, given the content of the film, but I can't help it. He's hot.) Match Point, also good. Really love these films that aren't the standard fare for the directors. Thank God Woody left himself out of this one. I have to say, though, he's got issues. No, seriously. Got a bunch more to see...all free for a few more weeks!! Love that card!!!
Netflix HBO series...
amazing adventures of kavalier & clay...about a boy...fight club...david sedaris's oeuvre...and john irving's...and william goldman's...and some of irvine welsh's...and peter carey's...and nick hornby's...and I secretly like my Agatha Christie paperbacks from Jr. High. And usually my punctuation's better, but I'm not in the mood today.
Jimmy Carter.
