Although work on Young James’ recording began just over a year ago, the project has been years in the making. High school chums Jesse Johnstone (Drums, Vocals, Banjo), Davy James (Vocals, Guitar), T.C.Young (Vocals, Guitar), and Brett Young (Bass, Vocals, Keys) have enjoyed each other’s music for years, but their paths had not crossed musically until only recently.
In 2001, the line-up that now forms Young James was spread out across Canada. T.C. and his brother Brett moved west to form the Calgary based band, Space Between. After 4 albums Davy and Jesse’s band Feederchain had fizzled out. Davy moved west to Vancouver with Ghost Town Drive and life dragged Jesse to Montreal. By early 2007 all four members were back on the prairies. The two Young brothers and Davy found themselves all living within walking distance of each other in Saskatoon and soon began writing and recording together.
The result of this collaboration was released in May of 2008. Young James’ self-titled recording has received critical acclaim from Saskatoon’s local arts press and radio.
