From the Sands of Sahara desert and the desks of a high school classroom, the Forgotten Tour was born. Melissa Larkin, a global traveler and singer/songwriter, had a vision that appeared to her like a mirage while voyaging in the African desert. Tara Lasky, a student with a passion for change and fervor for music, had a looming deadline for a thesis topic. A random but fateful meeting on the strange world of myspace, solidified this dynamic duo, and initiated the push to make mutual dreams a reality. This winter, they are bringing music to people and places that have otherwise been forgotten about by the mainstream music industry. By day, you can find them at your local shelter, prison, or school. By night, at your local favorite venue – raising money for the cause and taking music above and beyond – the only way melody knows how.
Because music can convey wordlessly and effortlessly. Because Music breathes life into the broken. Because the stage doesn’t have to be elevated above the people. Because music is a necessity, not a luxury.
