Jack Rico

Jack Rico was born in Queens, New York on August 10. He has been around the radio and television industry since he was 9 years old. His two uncles, award winning announcers in their own right, inspired his passion for the business. He fiddled with becoming a veterinarian, an astronaut and anthropologist all while ignoring his destiny. After graduating high school in Colombia, he moved on to Miami where he stumbled into the WKCR studios, the college radio station at Miami Dade Community College.Once in, he honed his microphone skills and eventually became the program director. With various simultaneous jobs in the radio field, including promotions and traffic reporter, Jack decided to try television on for size via an internship at MTV Latin America. That led to a venture back home in New York at Metro Traffic where his life would change forever. Due to an illness to one of the Spanish on-air traffic radio reporters, Jack was asked to sub for her and eventually stayed with the position.His tenure at Metro traffic was short lived when the number one Spanish language network, Univision, contacted him to become their first Spanish speaking television traffic anchor ever. Six months later, he was promoted to weather anchor. Jack currently shares those duties by covering the arts and entertainment scene in “the city that never sleeps”. His passion and discipline for his work in front and behind the cameras garnered him an ACE Award for best Entertainment Reporter in New York.
