'Beats the Movies' is a solo project consisting of the band member Steven Beat from Electric Needle Room . In his spare time, he enjoys fiddling with the computer's audio program to create a mix of audio files and merge them into one complete messed-up track. He creates his own original music by playing keyboard and using an electronic drum kit. Then he adds some effects, rips clips of movie quotes and dubs them in replace of vocals because he can't hit a note even with a tune of a whistle(whatever that means). "I can't sing, nor am I talented enough to play every single instrument out there." So I guess that's why he steals audio clips from other band's songs and uses them to form one of his own by cutting and pasting. "Simple enough it seems, true, but time consuming," Steven mentions. After hearing what he had to say, I thought this is one of the coolest ideas ever. Beat goes on to say, "It's not stealing if you can somehow manipulate it by messing with the effects and turning it into your own unique mix. It does require some talent, and at least one good ear." He continues this stupid argument by stating this, "If Hollywood can steal from one another, why can't I?"...one of these days he's gonna get sued...
