I am here for Friends

About Me

Hi, I'm Rory, and I'm right fucking horrible at introductions.
I'm really neurotic, to the point that it almost borders on the absurd.
I'd like to say that I'm a generally friendly person, but it's probably a lot more true that I'm a really introverted person. So, probably the best way to put it is that while I really do like meeting people, chances are good that I probably won't talk to you, unless you start talking first.
Or Perhaps, even then.
Yes, I know full well how silly that is, but no, that doesn't mean that I'm going to stop.
Of myself, the following was once written:
Rory Harman, a film director in the Fellini mould, had contracted with Liliane La Fleur to write and direct a film, but was unable to come up with a suitable plot. He was also, after recent box office failures, drifting towards a nervous breakdown, from which he is held back only by the support of his wife, Luisa. As his sanity disintegrated, he drifted into nostalgic reverie, eventually focusing on the formative sexual encounter of his life, which occurred at the age of nine.
He tried to lure the great actress Claudia Nardi into creating yet another version of the character that had launched her career in one of his earliest works, a character derived from Harman's precocious sexual encounters with a whore dressed as a nun. At the same time, he bought his mistress a nun's habit and encouraged her to help him relive his childish passion.
La Fleur decided that the film should be a musical based on the life of Casanova, but Harman's rush into madness, which accelerated when his wife left him, threw the production into chaos. Eventually, Harman reverted to the personality he had at the age of nine. - S. Anderson.
There isn't a word of truth to any of it, but it sure does sound cool.

Your words go here, ok friend?

My Interests

Writing, painting, photography, cartooning, film making and any other form of self expression I can fuck up enough. I love a good read, but I don't find a lot of books that hold my attention. I'm also quite fond of absurdism and surrealist humor. I enjoy collecting strange artifacts from junk shops, and breaking old machines and making things out of the parts ... Or drilling them to my walls.

I'd like to meet:

Every person out there with an interesting story to tell.

Music:

The last ten songs I listened to are as follows:

Movies:

I like a lot of movie, but any good short list would have to include
Trainspotting
12 Angry Men
Survive Style 5+
28 Days Later
Shaun Of The Dead
Snatch
Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Kevin Smith's films
The Usual Suspects
American Splendor
Terry Gilliam's flicks
Tarantino's stuff
Save The Green Planet
Kikujiro
The Seven Samurai
Bringing Out The Dead
Charlie Kaufman's stuff
Little Miss Sunshine
Fight Club
Big Fish

and The Life Aquatic

Television:

I don't have cable, but there are a few shows I've really liked over the years. Like
The Office [Britsh AND American, but for different reasons]
The Daily Show
The Venture Bros.
The Brak Show
Rocko's Modern Life
Pete & Pete
Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends
[Old] X-Files
[Old] South Park
Myth Busters
Penn & Teller's Bullshit!
Spaced
The Kids In The Hall
Mr. Show
And probably a few other things.
I'm still hoping radio is gonna make it's big comeback though.

Books:

Are lovely, but more often then not, end up on my head, and some instance stuck to my face, either ruining the page, as it gets ripped off my skin, or getting large paragraphs of ink transfered onto my cheek.

Heroes:

You're my hero.

Hail Satan

I was sitting in my third period class. Marketing. Nothing happens in marketing. At most, on occasion we're required to "dress for success", which I suppose translates to "I don't care enough to think...

Bill

Thomas is on edge. And it makes sense, all things considered, so I'm holding nothing against him. But we still end up missing the road we'd been looking for, and drive for a solid 18 minutes, trying t...

Valentines DIY 2008

For the past three years, consecutively, every winter I draw Valentines cards. This is a little odd, when you take into consideration that I never give out and have not, since elementary school, been ...

Old journal bit

We're not quite running, but we're walking very quickly. The sky is dark bluish slate, and we're far enough out in the desert you can see the stars in the sky. It's a bad idea to run in the dark, on t...

useless scrap of newspaper writing 2

The subject of dress code is one I don't exactly relish the idea of talking about. And when I went to the assistant principals' offices, I could tell it was something neither of them seemed particular...

Soft ethereal music drifts from a television in the side of the room.Despite the large metal chandelier which hangs from the ceiling, most of the lobby's light is what rays filter in though the soft w...
