About Me

From 6 November we are positioned in the competition according to how much we can fundraise for Fairbridge , a charity that organises various projects and events for 13-25-year-olds in the UK who need support! Please visit Anna's Fairbridge page :-)
NEW! CARTOONS FROM COVENT GARDEN POSTED HERE - go to 'Pics' to see them, and excuse the murkiness. I have no scanner, so I used my cameraphone. Thanks to everyone who came along!

Some background to who I am... I grew up in Finland amongst a right royal mess of actors, directors, set designers and musicians, and was only exposed to anything resembling the real world through visits to the neighourhood bakery. Although Finnish pastry IS vastly superior to the Danish variety, sadly I was still left underprepared for the demands of getting a real job. So I came over to the UK in the hopes that going to university would help. Strangely, after four years of reading English Literature, I found myself in London with even less of a clue what to do next. Best laid plans of mice and Finns...

Now I've got a chance to become a radio presenter on Core, and need as many MySpace friends and donations on my charity page as possible to keep me in the running!

Influences: I'm an eternal song-chaser and will listen to anything twice, but there are some bands that have made it far past that initial post. In the current charts, Kooks, Killers, Snow Patrol, Muse and The Feeling keep coming up and I keep loving them. Picking up songs from soundtracks on TV is fun and one of the weirdest ones I've found is Wraith Pinned to the Mist by Of Montreal - it's brilliantly insane. I used to be a grunge girl and still have Soundgarden, Nirvana and Pearl Jam albums that I love, as well as everything by R.E.M.; I also used to be a Britpopper and staged many audio fights in the privacy of my stereo between Blur and Suede. For the less upbeat moments in life I have plenty of Elliot Smith, Nick Drake and Leonard Cohen to tide me over until I'd rather stick with Lemon Jelly or Jack Johnson for a bit. Gorillaz got me through one year's essay crisis, Massive Attack make me feel like a lizard and Sigur Ros rip my heart out. Listening to friends' collections is the best way to never run out of ideas so please message me about your current finds! The two best gigs I've ever been to were Radiohead, Beck, Supergrass and Sigur Ros in South Park, Oxford and Soundgarden at the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki , although Foo Fighters in Reading, R.E.M. at Trafalgar Square (for three songs, that's a different story altogether), Broken Family Band in Cambridge, and most recently Starsailor in SoHo were pretty awesome too - I love seeing bands live.

I Heart Duvet

Loyal listeners will remember me talking about the Boiler Man a while back - his visit has now become about as anticipated as the second season of Lost. It'll probably be as big of an anti-climax, too...

Woke up next to Allan Lake

He was talking to me softly and asked me to just lie down with him - although that may have been Snow Patrol, come to think of it. Huh. That's just completely changed what I thought was going on.In ca...
