In August '06 I began working out with a personal trainer, trying to regain the fitness and health I had 20 yrs ago post-divorce. I need the physical strength in order to care for my mother. I'm fighting the battle of the middle-age bulge and the cholesterol/BP numbers--happily, the numbers are currently moving in the right directions! I love to "fine dine," go to movies, concerts, take photos, and have a passionate love for animals. The zoo is one of my favorite places!
Other baby boomers in my position, who are dealing with taking care of elderly parents. I'm lucky in that my mother is frail in body, but sound of mind; I shudder to think how much harder it would be if her condition were reversed.
Lyle Lovett, Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris, Annie Lennox, Carly Simon, Stevie Nicks, Sheryl Crow, Jimmy Buffet, Don Henley, Billy Joel, Elton John, Prince, and many more. But I LOVE LYLE--he's my all-time favorite!
"Terms of Endearment," "Coming Home," "Ordinary People," "American Beauty," "Sideways"; more recently, I loved "Little Miss Sunshine" and "The Squid and the Whale."
"Nip/Tuck," "Rescue Me," "Deadwood," "Lost," "City Confidential," "48 Hours Mystery," and recently (much to my chagrin) I've become addicted to "Survivor" and "The Amazing Race." I watch a lot of Animal Planet--whatever happens to be on. I miss "Six Feet Under" terribly!
My all-time fave is an obscure novel called Crazy in Alabama, by Mark Childress (the movie STUNK, but the book was WONDERFUL). I like to read biographies and autobiographies, as well as true crime stories--more non-fiction than fiction.
Jane Goodall; Diane Fossey; all the passengers and crew of Flight 93 that crashed in PA on 9/11/01.
