Through a dozen adventures which have had no resolution, we come now to the final act of this, this morality play." --McGarrett: "I've waited a long time for this, Wo Fat. This is a unit that was authorized by the governor of Hawaii to help fight crime on all of the islands. But unlike any other state in the world, the Five-0 state is made up seven islands, each with its own police chief and autonomous police force. Using boat, chartered airlines or helicopter, Five-0 covers all seven islands and works in cooperation with all police units. I answer directly to the governor.Other members of my team are: Danny Williams, born in Hawaii, educated at the Police Academy in Berkley, California where he graduated top of his class – detail man of Five-0: Kono, two hundred sixty-five pounds of muscle in the shape of a walking telephone booth – tough, quick and capable; and Chin Ho Kelly, a burly, powerful, multi-lingual Chinese, as wise as an Oriental proverb - a work horse..Since 9/11, it's critcal that we not only fight crime such as drugs and gambling, but we are charged with making sure that we don't have any terrorist's cells who may be on any of our islands planning an attack. I've just started this my space page, so more details will be forthcoming but let me give you a little background details of my life and experience in running this special police unit on this rock .My full name is Stephen J. McGarrett although I joke from time to time that my middle name is Aloysius!I was born in New York, New York, the son of a steamship company executive named William Lawrence McGarrett. My mothers name was Ellen Josephine McGarrett. I learned to ride horses at an early age on my mother's family fruit farm in the beautiful Hudson River Valley. I grew up in a tough Irish section of Brooklyn. It was a polyglot-a multiracial area made up of Jews, Poles, Irish, and so on. We had a good relationship with the police. There was no hatred of police in those days. I boxed for the Police Athletic League. My father was an executive for a steamship company - a job which meant a lot to a son who liked to travel. While I was in high school, I spent summers at sea where I combined two loves: traveling and art. From the decks of freighters, I would sketch and paint the coasts of China and Africa, and ports along the Mediterranean. It was a good life for a kid. Eventually I graduated from Fort Trumbull Academy in New London, Connecticut,I received a B in Biology in college.I have a younger sister, Mary Ann, who resides in Los Angeles with her husband, Thomas Whalen. Several years ago, their young son, Thomas Jr., nicknamed “Tommy”—12 months old— died of cancer while under the care of a quack women physician, Dr. C. L. Fremont, whose fraudulent practice I worked very hard to expose, and as I state later below, I had her arrested and put away in jail for very long time.I currently live at 404 Piikoi St. in Honolulu, but I also own a beach house. For your enjoyment only,I am a Capricorn, although I do not belive in horoscopes.I follow a strict personal regime. I get up at 5 o’clock every morning, and I used to jog along Waimanalo Beach every morning, but now I only jog three times a week, in Kapiolani Park near the rose garden, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays — and only when other errands and duties permit. Every Tuesday, I get my hair trimmed at the same barber shop which I do try and keep a secret,so none of these thugs out there will ever try and use to their advantage.I'm kind of a self-confessed health-food nut, but I'll occasionally deviate from my diet when the mood strikes me. In fact,I dare say I make the best lasagna and cacciatore in all of Hawaii! In my younger days, I would enjoy an occasional drink, but now that I'm a cop I've sworn off alcohol completely. Also no smoking.I try and play a little golf and chess, and enjoy boating whenever I can. I am a collector of Asian art objects, and I make jewelry as pastime.I try and play tennis twice every week. My tennis instructor Yoshi notes that finally my game is improving. I play guitar from time to time, because it relaxes me in the office when the tension gets high. I Also find it very relaxing to oil paint and have done so for many years. I graduated from the Annapolis Naval Academy with top honors.I've never been married. My feeling is being married and being a good cop are incompatible pursuits. However, during the time I spent in Naval Intelligence, I did became seriously attached to a woman named Cathy and we did intend to get married, but things didn’t work out between us.I will never never forgot my love for her. Another of my close relationships occurred with a Margot Cooper, a photographer — but again, the relationship did not work out due to incompatibilities in our professions, although we did briefly rekindle the relationship for brief time.I also had a brief romantic flirtation with the youthful women by the name of Rosemary Quong, although the romantic interest seemed to be mostly physical.Several years ago I did enjoy a dinner date with an attractive lady by the name, Brit Marni Howard, but it ended, when tried to betray me.My last very serious relationship was with a beautful fashion designer by the name of Cathi Ryan, to whom John Manicote our Attonary General introduced to me. Ms. Ryan was ultimately murdered by gangster Charlie Ing, who tried to frame me for a crime I didn't committ. I had him put away for good later. I really think she could have been the one I settled down with. While in the Navy, I was stationed in Japan during the war and was a POW with three other intelligence officers held in a North Korean prison camp for a short time.My ship the Liberty ship also sunk while on tour.I ultimately attained the rank of commander. After my tour I transferred my commission to the Naval Reserves.I've earned several field promotions and presidential citations during my military tenure.I relocated to Hawaii in 1961 and it was some time prior to 1968 that Governor Paul Jameson hired me to head Five-0. This was on the recommendation of Commander Walter Stuart, a Navy Intelligence prosecutor who later became Hawaii ’s Attorney General. Commander Stuart told Governon Jameson that I was known as a no-nonsense, dedicated and independent-minded investigator and these were traits the Governor Jameson was looking for,and brought me to the Five-0 Unit. I told the governor that I "answer only to the Governor and God." The Governor told me he considered this appointment as one of the smartest decisions he had ever made in office, which I consider a great complement and honor.I'm happy to report I've put away and helped to convict a long list of criminals, but I have made many enemies along the way. Most notable are:Wo Fat –Commander of the Red Chinese Intelligence in the Pacific Theater who continually escaped from me for at least ten years, unquestionably one of my greatist enemies. After I posed as theoretical physicist Dr. Elton Raintree I was able to get close to his my arch-enemy. I personally had the honor of snapping the cuffs on him, and throwing the book at him. He's in prison- Aloha, Sucker. till this day.The Vashon family,a well known crime family syndicate known all over the islands.Tony Alika. He headed up a syndicate called "Kumu".Charlie Ing – the man responsible for the death of my girlfirend Cathy Ryan.Dr. C. L. Fremont –the women whom I belive was responsible for my nephew’s death. On six separate occasions, my enemies have tried to frame me for crimes I did not commit. The most successful of these endeavors, was engineered by the Vashon family. I was arrested and convicted of second-degree murder, although this conviction was set aside once the Vashon scheme was exposed. I was also once falsely implicated for bribery, grand theft art, murder, along with our entire Five-O team, extortion, but none of these frame jobs resulted in a conviction. This has been the price myself and my team have had to pay for trying to rid the islands of the thugs and bloodsuckers. The Governor has stood beside me the entire time. I'll continue to serve at the request of Governor Paul Jameson. We have weeded out almost all of the crime lords and syndicates who ran these islands for many years. I'll continue to uphold the laws of the beautiful state of Hawaii. Our Five-0 unit today works closely with Homeland Security to make sure that we can protect all the citizens of this state. I personally don't believe that the war in Iraq had any thing to do with any terrorists who attacked the world trade center, but I have the duty to uphold all laws of the United States of America, and this I will do.Aloha, You know it, Bruddah.....McGarrett ...

My Interests

My 68 Mercury Parklane Brougham still purrs like a kitten. I drive it evey day even though I have a new police cruiser. HPD keeps and maintains it like new. The car is fairly well equipped, with a 428-4V(345 hp), C-6 automatic, power steering, power front disc brakes, power windows, power seat, A/C, AM/FM, and cruise control, DVD player,Bose speakers You might recall several ago our Five-0 unit had to move into the Old Territorial Office Building because they were doing extensive remodeling at the Palace. It was actually a good place to work because it put us much closer to what I call "the iron brain" the HPD computer. But I'm glad to have my old office back and yes, we have our own computers now!

I'd like to meet:

President George Bush..... so I could look him in in the eye and ask him why he lied to the American people about the war in Iraq?I would like to meet Osama Bin Laden.... and be the first to put the cuffs on him.Join McGarrett at MySpace.com! Just click here to join:
