Christian Ingebrigtsen is a Norwegian singer-songwriter and musician, member of the British boyband a1 from 1999 to 2002.
Born into a musical family (His father Stein Ingebrigtsen was the biggest selling recording artist in Norway in the 1970's), Christian has always looked up to his dad, wanted to be on stage, perform and sing.
From a very early stage started playing instruments; At six he learned to play the violin, recorder, and later started playing the piano and guitar.
At 16 he started composing his own songs, and became an exchange student in Kentucky, USA. In 1995 he was given the state award Kentucky Colonel, an award shared with the likes of Bing Crosby and Winston Churchill.
In 1996 Christian was accepted to LIPA (Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts) academy in Liverpool, where he studied song-writing and production. In 1998 was one of 2500 auditioning for a new boyband, A1.
In 2003 Christian started his career as a solo artist. His debut - a duet "In Love with an Angel" for artist Maria Arredondo and himself. The song became a smash hit, staying 3 months on the top 10 list of VG-Lista Topp 20 (Norway's official single chart). In May 2003 made his debut as a solo performer with the song "Things Are Gonna Change".
Christian had landed a contract with Universal Records concentrating mainly on the Norwegian market. The single went straight to number one on VG Lista Topp 20. A successful transition from boyband to pop-star was sealed with the popular radio hit "Take Back Yesterday" in November 2003.
His debut solo album, released on December 27, 2003, titled Take Back Yesterday was mainly produced by Christian himself, the songs written largely by him. Third single, Can't Give Up, was released in March 2004 and became another radio favorite.
Christian is currently working on releasing a second solo album (next year) as well as a Christmas album (November 2006).
