I am the AK-47 Assault Rifle, and I now have a myspace! AK is shortened from the origional Russian Avtomat Kalashnikova (Automatic Kalashnikov) 1947.
My dad's name is Mikhail Kalashnikov, and he designed me during WW2. I was born in Izhevsk Mechanical Works where me and all my brothers have been sent around the world! I am capable of selective fire (meaning semi or fully automatic). I was one of the first true assault rifles and remains the most widely used =) Me and my numerous variants and descendants have been produced in greater numbers than any other assault rifle and are in production to this day! Impressed yet?
Me and my brothers (AKS, AKM, AKMS, AK74, AKS74, AKSU74 and my newest siblings the AK-100 series) armed the Soviet army after they were done with my uncle, the SKS. I have lots of brothers, and although I'm the oldest, I'm certainly not the biggest, haha. RPD and RPK series certainly have me beat (but I think they take sterioids ^_~). I myself am Russian, but my cousins are Polish, Romanian, Chinese, Yugoslavian, German, American and many more countries. My cousin the SVD is also very popular.
Those are all my military family members, but I've got a lot of civilian cousins. In America, you'd know MAK90 and WASR-10, and I like them a lot, but I take pride in my fully automatic function! =)
I fire the bigger 7.62x39 round, but some of my brothers fire the 5.45 bullet. I haven't toyed around with 5.56, I leave that to M-16.
Speaking of him, M-16 and I don't get along a lot. We're generally friends, but too often we get into fights and although he won't admit it, I think I've come out on top the most ^_^ It's been argued that I and my brothers have killed more people than any other projectile weapon in history. There are also more of me and my family than any* other weapon in the world. I am extremely easy to clean and fire, and am always reliable.
I'm so popular, that the flag of Mozambique even has me on it! Hezbollah also has me on their colors. "Kalash", a shortened form of "Kalashnikov", is used as a name for boys in some African countries.
In short, I love a good fight, and I wouldn't turn down a good insurection or even a full scale war anyday!
