If you're from Spokane Washington, most likely you've heard of North West Rhythm threw Via Myspace, and Locals. If you're on MySpace, you could be apart of his growing fan base. With thousands of total plays on his profile, there defintely trying to put there mark on myspace. Here today, NWR comes through with a very detailed interview, that gives y'all the first glimpse.Who's North West Rhythm? What's NWR Productions?
Who is NWR? Well we are alot like most people so hopefully they can relate to the music that we make. Both of us Feature & Troop grew up not wealthy at all but lived some what comfortably with alot of negative energy holdin us back to be successful. With all of this going on Feature had moved out of the 99207 area an re-located in the spokane valley which was more relaxed environment. As for troop he stayed in the hillyard area an got caught up in a crime, which in time was sentenced 16 months in prison. While my cousin was locked up, i had alot of time to think and a friend of mine named Sick was getting into the music recording industry. Which turned Feature on to it to start making tracks with him, we started as a group of 2 called the Spokingz from 2006 to early 2007 later on adding a new member named V.I.C. With so much going on and the differences between Feature and them in music genre, Feature was forced to go his own way. Starting out as a solo artist Feature begain to build his own studio and making his owns tracks. Early 2007 June 4th James Smith known as "Troop" was released from washington state penitentiary. This first thing Feature thought of was reuniting with his cousin, then poping the question do you wanna start a hip hop, r&b, pop group with me. Which lead to being North West Rhythm, why we named it that was cause we wanted to enjoy life instead of using our surroundings and experiences to shape our sound and influence. Most of it has, but only the positive aspects of it.Over 15,000 myspace fans, & 200,000 page views, & 300,000 plays, seems as you got something going on in Spokane, how'd you get started?
To be honest, word of mouth was the key factor in the rapid growth of my buzz. Feature dropped his first song "Alone" almost year and half ago & Troop dropped his first song "Locked Up" 8 months ago and we just put it out anywhere we could. An then we found myspace threw a friend of mine telling us about it, to post our songs up there and gain fans and free promotion. Seemed like it was to good to be true but in this case it was true. We Started out adding 1000 locals from my area & the rest took off by itself. Folks started puttin my songs on their page and it just slowly spread like wild fire. We don't do any advertising other than post bulletins every once in a while about new songs or blogs. We feel if we hot we hot and if we not we not.Some of You're songs is available for download which is cool, but what can a listener not familiar with North West Rhythm expect? Lyrics? Beats?
Lyrics is unique only in our eye, cause nobody spits the same. But we fill that we definitly bring somthing new to the table. Far as beats go we currently trying to learn how to make them, as for now we just buy them exclusively or use them for promotion only. Mixtapes will always come and go, its just somthing fun to do and its great for promotion & budget use. We give most of are songs for free intill we work up some cash to make are first legit album. Coming out in Mid-2008.What's up with the graphic design of your myspace? Who made it cause it looks hot!
To be honest, the graphic design thing was a result of me getting lucky & lost looking for a myspace designer that was cheap. She can be located at www.myspace.com/emarie_layouts Was nice for us to come in contact with such a nice reliable & flexible person. We wanted to shape are layout as a green darkesh environment, as you no Washington State is known as the Evergreen State. I Recommend anyone on a budget 40-100$ to contact her for your own unique personal or band myspace layout.The comparisons are going to come for you Feature, do you think you're anything like: Paul Wall, Emenem, Shamrock "The White Rapper Show" Jon Young, Lil Wyte?
I cant possibly compare myself to successful white mc's and r&b singers, cause they all have been signed and on there way to doing big things. As for me im at the bottom trying to work my way up, ill let the fans do the comparisons. I enjoy all those names listed off music and hope the best for them, but im on my own quest, my own hustle, i gotta grind so wish me luck. Im also a producer / mc and some of them artists are too, so does that count as a comparison? Sounds good to me
The comparisons are going to come for you to troop, who would you say you're anything like?
I Spit nasty and grimey, only because i have alot of hate inside of me. Im only like this occasionally, im constantly working on my flow, i mean sometimes ill just go into the booth and just record raw freestyles cause thats fun to me. Ask anybody who really knows me im always spittin. I listen to alot of r&b singers and alot of rappers who are mainstream and underground. Im fresh out the pin everyday i wanna make hits, Feature cant keep up with me but it's coo, he runs the studio. Like Feature said i dont think anybody but the fans can compare you to somebody.What's with the NorthWest being down with all that gangsta rap? Seems as if everybody from the NorthWest poppin' off with it.
It's true we have yet to been explored and found out about, we all on a grind to put are city's on the map. Rap is big up here and alot of the old school cuts is envied the most up here it seems till this day. But as for us NWR we comin at you with a hip hop pop & r&b vibe. Dont get me wrong there's tons of talent up here, so send some a&r's up to the northwest and do some lookin around, im feelin Holy Fam to the fullest so look out for them.Have you guys hooked up with any bigger artists that the more mainstream would know about?
Hah, man i wish we at the bottom we working are way up, maybe in the future i hope to work with some. That would be a lifetime forever remembering experience. But for now catch us doing local shows pretty soon and hooking up with local artists who have done well in are city for future callaborations. We can't really say whats next we just gonna keep going intill the wheels fall off.Where can we get music from North West Rhythm
