Paper has an amazing way of reacting. I feel that it has the ability to compensate for change, much like the brain compensates for loss of sense. As paper absorbs moisture, it bends and twists, fighting to maintain its original shape.I see white space as a vacancy awaiting inhabitance. It is an atmosphere for the delicate utopias to survive. Huddling in the corners and floating in the center are molecule-like forms caught in a moment of transformation.I often find inspiration lying in the grass, gazing up at sun through branches, fixated on the iridescent shapes gracefully gaining and losing form. My process is informed by these discoveries as well as everyday objects that seduce my curiosity. The glossy varnishes that I employ remind me of honey, nail lacquer, and water-filled bottles. I combine watercolor with collage, drawing material from magazines. I find the ephemeral watercolor juxtaposed with the sharp, morphed clippings to be seductive. My work combines indulgence with restraint.
