About Me
Influenced by many artists, Scrilla C a.k.a Bejan Toofan has been making his way through the rap game. Raised in Central California in the Bay Area, now living in Gilroy, Scrilla C has his eyes set on his bright future, ready to gain the acceptance from his peers and to gain the admiration of his fans. He travels and does shows from Los Angeles to Sacramento, soaking in the love and brushing off the haters.
The road to success is always difficult, but a certain roughness is built into an individual from a hard upbringing that creates a hunger for stardom, which is immeasurable. This certain quality is found in Scrilla C, where his upbringing has been everything but normal. His parents divorced when he was only five (1993), leaving him confused and angered. He needed an outlet for his anger and initially he brought his anger out on those around him. He unknowingly would unleash his rage, causing chaos. These instances and other such events are what created the rapper who we now know today as Scrilla C.
His lyrics are created from his thoughts on life; from the day he was born to the day he began to rap on the mic. He does not believe in failure, he has his mind set and he will overcome any obstacle until he reaches his goal of becoming a big time rapper. As his style shows, his raps are meant for people who feel like they are becoming crazy or already have crossed the boundaries of what is sane. It is believed now days you must be a gangster to rap about protecting yourself, when in reality you are protecting your body from your own demented thoughts. With all the crazy thoughts this teenager has thought up, planned and gone through with, he has been legally certified by the government of the United States to have mental issues. On June 19, 2004, Scrilla C visited his personal physiologist for attempt of suicide. He was quoted in saying: "there is no point of living when you feel unhappy and you cannot put an end to the sadness that you feel inside". At this point he did not want to become a rapper, but he felt the only way to relieve his anger was by expressing his feelings. After six months of continuously writing poems, lyrics, and stories, Scrilla C’s lyrics began to mature far greater than anyone had ever imagined.
Influenced by his past and now serious, Scrilla C started creating poetry, an art form, created from a fresh new lyrical style with meaningful content. Instead of disclosing his personal life, he felt it was necessary for the public to hear his voice. Therefore, he began to grow an undeniable hunger to break into the rap game and be heard. Two years before he gained recognition, he would travel to nightclubs and battle any MC that would challenge him to the mic. Becoming lost in the large diverse rap game, where discrimination was rampant, he quickly found himself lost in the great sea of talent. After six months of continuous battling and writing raps, a producer gave him a chance and handed him a record deal, Nuthouze Productionz. This encounter also landed the young talented rapper with his soon to be made well-known name, Scrilla C, which means cash cash.
His producer quickly realized that the lyrics that this young m.c. was writing were far too explicit and he felt they should not be heard from a teenager so young, 15 years of age (2004). After the album was set and ready for the public, his producer and Scrilla C finally came to the agreement that the CD should be called "A Rap Thang" for commercial terms. In addition, a part to the agreement was to exclude all bad content from the CD. Scrilla C did not favor this idea, but he made a business move and followed through with the decision in order to put the album in stores. Moreover, Scrilla C later shot a music video for his single “Just Meâ€, which was eligible to be shown on M.T.V and B.E.T. As Scrilla C began to lose most of the creative control over his album, he decided to create his own studio company and call it Younglife Productionz.
In addition, by viewing the poor sales of his first album (A Rap Thang), it drove him to build a full studio inside his house. Here he could create the music he wanted. He began writing his lyrics to his second album “Anger In My Eyez†having complete control over the entire production. He now had the ability to choose his own producers, which would best fit his style. He had over 6 producers produce his album, which each of them perfectly reflected his style. Scrilla C quotes: "this is the album I always dreamed of, I wrote this album mostly for people who felt as if they had no reason to live their lives just as I had once felt. Even though there are about two to three club songs on this album, the content of the music is still very meaningful and rooted from my heart, where I store all my pain and angerâ€.
Having mastered numerous skills: producing and creating beats, which well represented Hip Hop, a new figure emerged; the transformation of a kid with only a single dream, to a full blown rapper with no limits. His first album, titled "A Rap Thang" was released earlier in the year (2005), in stores now and his second album, "Anger In My Eyez" is set to be released this coming year (2006). Both albums convey a message, where Scrilla C writes from his heart and truly wants to connect with his fans.
