About Me

Born Douglas Richard Robb in the mountains of Pennsylvania, State College, Pa., to be exact. September 5th, 1954. (As Martin Luther King once said, "The prodigious hills of Pennsylvania.") My Mom named me after General Douglas MacArthur and Richard the Lionhearted, King of England, the Court of Camelot. Grew up in State College in a local suburb called "Park Forest Village.", Attended local schools and began to play the drums, my passion, in 1967 around the same time as "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" was released. Played drums in bands in junior high (The Uncalled Four) and high school (Later), and at Penn State University (Stigwood James, Armadillo), where I graduated in 1977 with a BA in Speech Communication, Broadcasting Option.Moved to Austin, Tx, in June 1978 after marrying a Texas girl. Got hired by KLRU-TV to work on "Austin City Limits" in Nov. of 1978. I just finished my 29th season on the show and will start my 30th year in March 2008. Got divorced in 1980, but still lived with my ex-wife after that for a while. (BIG mistake!)Played drums and vocals through the years in many Austin bands. (Friends of Fernando, Tydus Alley Band, The Front, Sid E. Slikker, Nasty Habits, Texas Weather, Current, The Daddios, and finally, I started "The Heroes" in 1990 to the present.Remarried in 1986 and had my first daughter, Katie (Katherine Elena Robb) born April 23, 1988. Separated from my 2nd wife in July 1988, Divorced in Feb. 1989. Remarried in 1990, had my second daughter Kristine Deann Robb, born March 20, 1992. My two girls are the best thing that's ever happened to me.Bought a house in 2003, lost it in foreclosure in 2007, the lowest point in my life. Living now in a rent duplex that's not my favorite place to live, but at least I'm not homeless.
