About Me

We first got together in August 2003 and at that time we had no name. The story began when Honza met a totally stoned guy in the pub Brouk (The Beetle) in the Prague area, Smichov. The guy, passing a waitress his box of sweets, asked her: "Do they contain any caffeine?" Whilst the waitress checked out the sweetbox, he asked Honza if he could look in his music magazine to obtain some information about drums. This immediately interested Honza because he was in fact looking for a drummer to join the band. He started to chat with that guy and they arranged a rehearsal. The rehearsal brought together the band - the bass player, Radek, came along and the band was born.
The drummer wanted Honza to write his own punk songs with Czech lyrics but Radek and Honza persuaded him to play 70´s punk and rock music. They particularly liked Sex Pistols, The Ramones and even a song by The Bad Company called "Feel Like Making Love." The first band´s name was coined - "No Future!"
Week by week, month by month the drummer arrived late or not at all for rehearsals. Excuses were many and varied. Honza and Radek suggested to him that they should stop playing together for a while until he improved his drumming technique.
A few weeks later Honza took a part in a student´s dance-theatre performance where he met Tomas. Honza mentioned his band during their chat and Tomas mentioned he is a drummer, if they do not need any. They arranged a rehearsal and then Radek and Honza asked Tomas to become their regular drummer.
Shortly afterwards Tomas and Honza met their mutual friend Lucy, a student of a dance conservatory, on their way to a pub. That girl provided the inspiration for the current band name - "Pale Blue Something" - from a throw away comment she made whilst in conversation. Honza became entranced with the phrase "pale blue something." At that moment the name of the band was decided.
At this time Honza experienced the real blues. His melancholic spirit was reflected in his song lyrics of this period. This was also the time when he first started to compose more than one song a year - both lyrics and melody. These songs are now the signature songs of the band. If you would like to listen to these songs not only on concerts but also at home, you can order a promo CD 'Just For You (Songs For Janie)' with all nineteen songs recorded in a studio for a price of mere expenses.
Nowaday´s style of the band can be characterized as a Guitar Rock with features of the Blues, Rock´n´roll and even Punk. It is not stable yet partly due to recent personal changes. Nevertheless, Honza and new members Petr and Neil tend to incline more to the Blues-Rock or Rhythm and Blues how they called this style in the sixtees. Blues standards such as "Hoochie Coochie Man" or "Spoonful" therefore enriched the band´s repertoire. Besides them, Honza also loves playing and singing songs of his idol John Lennon such as "Mother," "Imagine," "Jealous Guy," "Mind Games" or "Oh Yoko!"
What as for personnel changes, the drummer Tomas left the band during the spring of 2006 after he decided to incline to the Britpop and to become a singer, guitarist and a songwriter in his own band. A period of Honza´s solo concerts followed. Honza sized up he inclines to the music of the sixtees and to the Blues-Rock. Punk oriented Radek was consequently changed for Petr on 9th August.
Another talented musician joined the band on 2nd October of the same year. He is an English drummer called Neil who was able to learn band´s repertoire in a record six days to play the band´s 25th concert and at the same time the first one in the new line-up. A new stage in the musical development of the band "Pale Blue Something" was thus started and you can look forward to enjoy it at some impending concert.
