Island Groove

Stefano & Louis K were born on the pearl of the Tirrenian Sea, the Island of Elba. Being largely a summer resort, island the winter off-season offers little in the way of distractions for young people. As a result of this these two young men looked for a more stimulating pass time than the usual ones of fishing and endless card games. This search brings them into their first contact with music, which as time goes on and their appreciation and skill advances, slowly seduces them willingly until they are completely enamoured by it. Stefano eventually gets onto the Islands live music scene and thanks to his indubitable talent and his deep blues style voice make him a hit in many of the islands trendiest club’s.
Louis K, instead expresses his love for music through becoming a Dj. After acquiring his first set of decks with money made during the summer he begins to master them using records he “borrows” from his cousin. Before long he was a Deejaying regularly at many of the islands hottest clubsBoth had a determination to continue with their dream and ignoring their sneers of their fellow islanders who view with suspicion anyone who tries to break out and rise above the usual provincial mediocrity, persevered. Growing up together on this idyllic island, playing football together, enjoying the beach and drinking together in many of the islands bars, produced an artistic synergy which resulted in their first creation “GROOVE ISLAND”.
Under this label they released their first track ‘Tonight’ which achieved some degree of success in Italy and overseas, such as the Uk, Usa and Germany. Having wetted their appetite they release their second track ‘Sleeping Time is over’ with much the same success. Now the bug has definitely bitten them. They also realise that Elba is not near enough to were the real action is and its time to make the big leap. So they pack their bags and armed with little more than a willingness to learn and a good dose of humility they head for Milan, internationally renowned city of commerce, fashion and music.Once they have sorted out their accommodation they start doing the rounds of all the top recording studios in search of a job. Their aim is to learn all they can about the music business, a good complement to have beside their natural talent. They begin work in one of Milan’s most prestigious recording studios were they fine tune their musical ear and hang out with internationally famous artists, giving them a rare insight into what it takes to be successful.
Now they release another track, ‘Deep Love’ in collaboration with Keith Thompson and a mini Lp of Deep House tracks called ‘Ep One’. They also gain further experience creating the track for the Renault Laguna Ad and even win a prestigious award for it.

while Louis K plays many of the trendiest venues in Italy.
They never loose sight of their objective of producing their own album though. By saving money and slowly buying the necessary equipment they manage to set up their own modest recording studio in the basement of their apartment.
These years have grown and fine-tuned their musical talent and now the moment has arrived to record their first album.
A year..s worth of work, of blood, sweat and tears. A year..s worth of sleepless nights, doubts and worrying. A year..s worth of highs and lows. But the two strong willed guys never give up. This is their dream and it..s about to come true, with the help of a few trusted musician friends.
.. Vision .. is the result. Their journey from old school to new has, for the moment come to its conclusion. The music is more mature, a fusion of genres till you arrive at new sound of Downtempo Electronic and Deep House Jazzy.

Stefano e Luigi nascono all’Isola d’Elba, luogo incantevole e soleggiato, molto frequentato nel periodo estivo ma che, durante l’inverno, non permette molte distrazioni e divertimenti. Proprio per questo motivo i due ragazzi, in un primo momento con un terzo amico, Simone, cominciano a cercarsi degli stimoli e delle attività alle quali dedicarsi fino a quando non riescono ad identificare la loro vera passione: la musica! In special modo il jazz, la house, il soul ed il funk.

Stefano è il musicista e si esibisce dal vivo cantando accompagnato dal suo pianoforte.Luigi, invece, si esibisce alla console col nome d’arte di Louis K, sfoggiando tutto il suo talento nel selezionare e mixare i dischi nei locali più trendy dell’isola e non solo.

Il loro primo sforzo si trasforma in realtà e si chiama “Groove Island”, nome che in seguito verrà cambiato con “Island Groove”.Sotto questa etichetta pubblicano il primo singolo ‘Tonight’che riscuote subito molto successo sia in Italia che all’estero, come in UK, USA e Germania. Sulla scia dell’entusiasmo, Stefano e Louis K si dedicano così alla produzione di ‘Sleeping Time is over’ secondo singolo 12” che riscuote altrettanto favore di pubblico.La passione e la voglia di sfondare crescono e i due diventano ormai consapevoli che la realtà elbana limita il loro ingresso nel mondo artistico musicale. Così decidono di preparare i bagagli e trasferirsi con tutto il loro studio di registrazione a Milano, città dove si respira quotidianamente la musica e culla di nuove tendenze e ad innovative influenze musicali.

Non appena insediati, arrivano i primi problemi, si devono guadagnare da vivere e cominciano a cercare lavoro presso i più celebri studi di registrazione di Milano, dove iniziano ad affinare le loro arti, ad apprendere i trucchi del mestiere, a migliorare gli arrangiamenti e soprattutto a conoscere e collaborare con gli artisti e i professionisti che permetteranno loro il salto di qualità.In collaborazione con Keith Thompson realizzano il terzo importante singolo “Deep Love” ed in seguito un mini LP deep house dal titolo Louis K ‘EP One’. Parallelamente la loro musica fa il suo ingresso nel mondo della pubblicità e nel ‘96 conquistano il premio come “Miglior colonna sonora originale” per lo spot Renault Laguna al Galà della Pubblicità.

Arrivano in seguito anche le richieste per i remix, “Forrest for the Trees”, “Constance” e “Corona” mentre Louis K è apprezzato e richiesto dj nei migliori locali italiani.Ormai il loro più grande sogno sta per diventare realtà, ovvero realizzare il primo album. A costo di grandi sacrifici e sforzi economici riescono ad acquistare, una ad una, tutte le apparecchiature necessarie per trasformare il loro studietto casalingo in uno studio di registrazione professionale e funzionale.Inizia così un anno interamente dedicato alla conquista del grande sogno : lavoro, sudore, notti insonni, incertezze e preoccupazioni ma anche grandi traguardi e soddisfazioni.Grazie al prezioso e indispensabile ausilio dei fantastici musicisti Pino di Pietro, Massimiliano Castellani e Claudio Sax Fabiani, le note e le improvvisazioni cominciano a prendere forma e a diventare, sempre più estrosamente, melodie e con l’apporto della voce sensuale e intrigante di Melody e l’appossionata performance Brasiliana di Gerson, si materializzano in “Vision”.

La musica è più matura, raffinata ed elegante; le sonorità Downtempo, Elettronica e Jazz sapientemente miscelate e cariche di energia coinvolgente.Vision è la trasposizione di lontani ricordi, intense sensazioni, un’ odissea di vibrazioni, un mondo virtuale dove ti puoi perdere, una profonda sensazione difficilmente dimenticabile.
