About Me

I am currently the drummer, backup vocalist and producer for the Orange County based band, "Quick Like Molasses" (QLM.) The QLM CD was produced at my studio, Warp Drive Productions and you're now hearing one of our songs playing in the background! The band consists of some very cool musicians like Bobby Smaw on guitar, Jesse Cross on vocals & Anthony Avilles on bass. We are basically a 1970’s style hard driving rock’n roll band that’s all rehearsed and ready to play some shows! Get your very own QLM CD Now! and be the first on your block!
My Brief History:
I originally came to Southern California 18 years ago from the South side of Chicago, Illinois where I did TONS of music work. I was an AFM Local 10-208 (musicians union) member at the age of 16 and performed mostly at high-society private parties while dressed in a tuxedo. Both my father and grandfather had their own orchestras, so there was always plenty of music work for me. Through high school I played in many rock bands, most notably "Exodus" & "Reality." In 1979 I recorded an LP with the band "Seiche" from the Marquette Park area, built my own recording studio, Levinsong Productions in Glenwood, Illinois and started up my own project band "Montage." Seiche was like a mixture of King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Genesis and the Doors and sounded very dark. In fact many European collectors of the Seiche LP have told me that Seiche sounds like the band Nirvana, only 12 years before there ever was the band Nirvana! Montage was basically me with my brother Eric Levinson on keyboards & bass and featuring first, Ken Thornton on guitar (now the mastermind of the King Crimson inspired band "VonFrickle" ) and then later Montage re-grouped with world renowned guitarist, Eric Mantel. Both the Seiche and Montage CD's are available for preview and purchase at cdbaby.com.
I also played the Chicago Rhythm & Blues and Jazz circuit for many years with the Swingshift R&B band and the Beebop Daddies Jazz Quartet. In 1983 Swingshift released a 45 RPM vinyl record of our original songs, “Sign Of The Times” and “Bad Seed.” I even sat in for a set with Koko Taylor (the Queen of the Blues) one night when her drummer was late! Before finally leaving Chicago, I toured the United States with the Tammy Thomas Group on Playhouse Records playing High Energy Dance & House music for almost 2 years. We released two 12” dance single records on vinyl, “It’s Getting Better” and “Do You Want Me?” The latter which was mixed by Jimmy Jam, reached #1 on the Top 60 Dance Chart for 8 consecutive weeks.
In September 1988, I made the decision to quit the Tammy Thomas Group, leave Chicago altogether and relocate to sunny Southern California where I started up my new music & multimedia production company, Warp Drive Productions or for short, WDP located in Aliso Viejo, CA, (Laguna Beach area) with the URL being www.warpdriveprod.com. The first project I did after relocating was a solo effort titled "Marko Nadsworth – Universal" which is basically done as a High Energy Dance thing but with male vocals and features my brother Eric Levinson on keyboards and bass. This CD is also available for preview and purchase at cdbaby.com and the video of my rendition of the Jimmy Webb song "Wichita Lineman" is on youtube.com.
Since then, WDP has become a full service production facility. WDP is also an authorized dealer for SE Electronics Microphones, Selenium Loud Speakers, horns & drivers and Clearsonic Acoustic partition systems. You may purchase all this pro-audio equipment directly from our online catalog Also, feel free to take the WDP studio tour!
Since arriving in California, I've had the pleasure of working with many very talented people. One such person is Josh Maloy . Josh was one of the first contacts I made upon arriving here in Orange County and it was by total chance. Ever since, he has always been such a true friend and I have been recording his original songs for the last 16 years. Josh has become such a great song writer, that our band, QLM performs many of his songs in our live show as well as the one you're hearing in the background! Josh has also been writing songs for Geffen Records artists, Something Corporate .
