My Interests

Literature, music, film, as uncultured as I am I do like art, especially photography, but I'm more of a 'I don't know much, but I knows what me likes' kinda guy, Oreos and many other non-UK confectionaries, 80's pop culture, Gen X, a whole lot of recent counter cultures (punk, hardcore scene, alternative sports, independent anything, the BEAT generation), shootin' the breeze, frisbee, bball, tag team organ playing, Los Angeles (buy me a ticket), taking pictures of objects in centra, histories, making things out of the wax around baby bels (or blue tac), bridges, collars on shirts, doodling, plaid (in the right context), my dog and my cat (RIP).

I'd like to meet:

People who are... um... cool?

Music:

Jawbreaker, mewithoutYou, Tom Waits, Saves The Day, Bob Dylan, Neutral Milk Hotel, Manchester Orchestra, The City On Film, Minor Threat, Modest Mouse, The Stryder, Thursday, The Long Winters, Taking Back Sunday, Blink 182, The Get Up Kids, Weezer, Jets To Brazil, Bear Vs. Shark, Hey Mercedes, The Ataris, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, Descendents, The Clash, The Reamins Of Youth, As Tall As Lions, Hot Water Music, Everclear, Noknife, Sufjan Stevens, Sunny Day Real Este, We Are Scientists, Death Cab For Cutie, The Rocking Horse Winner, caP'n Jazz, Settlefish, The Smiths, Audio Karate, Slowride, Bigwig, Brand New, Built To Spill, The Early November, NFG, Fairweather, Q and not U, Onelinedrawing, Far, Motion City Soundtrack, Lagwagon, Sense Field, Fugazi, REM, Semisonic, MxPx, Deftones, Benton Falls, Jimmy Eat World and such (I know I've left some out).

Movies:

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Big Sleep, The Maltese Falcon, Key Largo, Annie Hall, Manhattan, Chasing Amy, Clerks, Some Like It Hot, The Apartment (Billy Wilder movies), Right At Your Door, Wonder Boys, The Odd Couple (Neil Simon adaptations), Traffic, Seven, Pleasantville, Midnight Cowboy, Igby Goes Down, Ferris Bueller's Day Off (John Hughes movies), Donnie Darko, The Big Lebowski (Coen movies), La Haine, Caddyshack, Fletch (love Chevy), Garden State, The Fisher King, Adaptation, Taxi Driver, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (Jack is just... so... good), Rushmore, Royal Tennenbaums (Wes Anderson movies), almost anything with Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau in it, preferably both at the same time, loads but my mind's blanking.

Television:

Classic TV like Columbo and The Rockford Files, TV needs to be like that again. Family Guy, Simpsons, Seinfeld, King Of Queens, Scrubs, Adam & Joe, Garth Marenghi's Dark Place, Spaced, The Mighty Boosh, DDR Docmentary, teen dramas like My-So Called Life and OC when its bearable, Music shows, biography shows, some well made documentaries, I (we all) watch too much TV.

Books:

Authors like F. Scott Fitgerald, Michael Chabon, Phillip Roth, everything Jack Kerouac has expunged from his noggin, Samuel Beckett, J. D. Salinger, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Edgar Allen Poe, a lot of postmodern American writers like Ralph Ellison, Thomas Pynchon, Toni Morrison, Saul Bellow, the classics - Shakespeare and whatnot, J. M. Coetzee, E. L. Doctorow, is it strange that I really liked White Oleander by Janet Fitch? C.S. Lewis, Franz Kafka, William Golding, Thomas Hardy, Mary Shelly, Samuel Beckett, Michael Chricton, Phillip Yancey, John Steinbeck, Tom Perrota, Bret Easton Ellis (a lot of 20th Century american writers for some reason), The Bible is a book you should give a read wherever you're from and for whatever reason, I'm not by any means a big poetry fan, but Keats, Byron, Shelley, Donne, Whitman, Pope, T.S. Eliot, Heaney, and many others are just too good to ignore.

Heroes:

Nah.
