November 9th 1989 was a great day - not only for Germany, but the World. But to one young man, Black Forest, this date will be remembered for something far more significant than the fall of the Iron Curtain - his introduction to music, and specifically the purveyor of soft rock anthems David Hasselhoff.
After witnessing that seminal concert, on New Year's Eve 1989, Hasselhoff stood atop of the partly-demolished wall and belted out a tune called Looking for Freedom, Black Forest decided to combine his now two greatest loves - Music and Christianity and form a band named after his third greatest love...Christina Applegate, however after a legal battle they had to settle on Apfelstrudel (a homage to the great actress) and in respect to their fourth greatest love -you guessed it - a freshly baked apfelstrudel.
As the 90's progressed so too did Black Forest and his band's tastes in music, introducing electronica not only to their sound but to many countries unfamiliar with Kraftwerk, namely Slovakia where they scored an early number one hit single with "Psalms for the Masses"
With at least 15 members at anyone time and a wardrobe that combines trappist monk with 70's glam it is difficult to know who these musical maestros are, but look out for an as yet un-named new album (their 21 studio release) in a record shop near you soon.I edited my profile at Doobix.com
