Born a Miami Florida native, Michael James resided there for a mere 5 years before his mother decided to pack up and move to California. She chose to pursue work as an entertainer along side her renowned brother, John McCormick. Seeing their love for music and entertaining, this got MJ thinking ...I could do that. Although his interest in music had been sparked, many years had past before acquiring his first real instrument, a drum set.Within a month, he would go to his local music store, trade in his drum set and pay way too much for his first guitar. It was a right handed white Fender Strat, with a Floyd Rose tremolo, strung upside down to suit his left handedness. This would start his path to the point of no return. As a teenager, he would spend at least 13 hours a day practicing. Not because he had to, but because of his love and passion for music. Within a few months of mastering the guitar (so he thought), Michael James had formed his first band. He could see his hours devoted to practicing were paying off. When half his band moved away right before high school, he was devastated. He thought he had "The Band". Little did he know there was much more to come. He had may bands throughout high school, and had the opportunity to play with various talented musicians. It wasn't until early in college that he pursued his music career professionally. One night after work as an expeditor in a restaurant, he went up into the mountains by himself, with a Steve Vai album and some choice beverages. After a while he felt inspired and had the desire to go see some live music at his Uncle John's club. He confidently strolled in and started dancing with some older lady. When his uncle took his break, he approached MJ and mentioned that he was considering getting rid of his guitar player, and asked if MJ was still playing. He replied, "Yes I still play, and I would love to join the band."Michael James can now be seen playing with many different bands in the Coachella Valley and L.A. areas. You can also always find him headlining his show with the Michael James Band at McCormick's Night Club in Palm Desert, California. guys layout @ HOT FreeLayouts.com MyHotComments
