About Me

As a singer/songwriter I am able to share my experiences with you through my music.
Being the daughter of musical parents, WENDY, named after The Beach Boys song, grew up surrounded by music.
Her mother still recalls her love of music beginning early at the age of 5, performing for the very first time in kindergarten. Her father remembers the nights she sat in on sets with his band. Those were the moments that would pave the way to WENDY being involved in every talent show and school chorus up until graduation. By this time, she had done numerous showcases in the tri-state area and was a regular for 2 seasons on the USA Network TV show, Dance Party USA. It was at that time that she knew what path she would choose for her career.
After graduation she began frequenting the club scene, seeing numerous artists perform. Given the chance, she would sing for any and everyone. Notorious for pulling people in the ladies room and singing for them, this is something that people remembered. Sound a bit strange? Of course it does, but WENDY was determined to let her voice be heard by anyone that would listen.
In 1994, WENDY met her first producer and owner of Artistik Records, Willie Valentin. Having heard about the "ladies room singer" on many occasions, he was eager to have her audition for his new label.
Later that year WENDY was signed as the first feamle artist on Artistik Recordsl. She co-wrote her first 2 singles with Michael Anthony Bertot entitled "I Know" which appeared on Freestyle Parade Vol. 1 and soon after linked up with Michael again to write "I Want You Back" which appeared on Freestyle Parade Vol. 2.
Three more singles were to follow during her duration with Artistik Records, "It's Over", "The Rest of My Life" and "If I Can't Have You" and in 1999, she left Artistik after a wonderful 5 year run.
In 2000, after taking a year off from recording, WENDY joined forces with Chris "In the Mix" Sammarco and recorded a harder hitting Dance track entitled "Sending Out My Heart" which was picked up by Diesel Groove Records but never released. Altough a bit dicouraged, neither Chris nor WENDY were ready to throw in the towel just yet. They both took a break and after a year or so went back into the studio to record a song that Chris wrote entitled "Pray For the Love". That track was then picked up by Extreme Records and included remixes by Mike Rizzo, Danny Woo and Georgie Porgy. Shortly after that they recorded thier last song together which was a Freestyle track entitled "Goodbye" which was never released.
In 2004 WENDY linked up with Mickey Garcia of Micmac Records and recorded her own version of The Carpenters "Home For the Holidays" which appeared on Micmac's holiday compilation "Dance Through The Holidays". By that time the Freestyle buzz had almost completely diminshed and WENDY decided to pursue her computer career full time until she linked up with her longtime friend and fellow artist, Joe Zangie formerly of Tazmania Records.
In late September 2006, Joe Zangie approached WENDY with the idea of doing a duet for his upcoming album. When WENDY showed him some lyrics she had written a few years back and minor changes were made since the song wasn't originally written as a duet. The final product, produced by Joe, "When I Want You Back" was then recorded. She also wrote a 2nd track for his album entitled "This is the Last Time" both of which appeared on his 2007 album "Timeline".
After working with Joe, WENDY felt it was time to get back into the studio to record some new material of her own.
In April of 2007, WENDY was approached by rapper BIG LOU of the Streetsweepers to do a hook on one of his tracks. Having heard of BIG LOU and knowing what an absolutely phenominal MC he was, WENDY jumped at the opportunity. She had heard his name for years being compared to the likes of the late greats, Biggie, Pac and Pun. To listen to his music and really pay attention to what he rhymes about, gave this project more meaning than any other that had previously been presented to WENDY. A few weeks later they would record the track entitled "Stop Hittin Me" which was a dedication to women going through physical and mental abuse.
In May of 2007 she recorded her first new track which was a Dance cover of the Air Supply song "Even The Nights Are Better". Produced by Rob Federici and remixed by Julian Marsh, this song had major energy! Having performed the song at Pride events and nite clubs across the country, she had already shared the stage with artists Jenna Drey, Alyson, American Idols' Kimberly Locke and Frenchie Davis just to name a few.
In November of 2007, "Even The Nights Are Better" was picked up by Red Wallet Records and appeared on Julian Marsh's "T-Dance" compilation. The single is due to be released by Summer 2008.
Although WENDY has been known to her fans as Dance/Freestyle artist, what many people may not know is that her real passion is R&B. That is what made the Big Lou project so important to her. Growing up she was influenced by artist such as Roberta Flack, Chaka Khan and Donna Summer. Wanting to include focus to another genre, WENDY also began working on her R&B project.
In December 2008, WENDY linked up with Big Lou again to shoot the video for "Stop Hittin Me" which included a guest appearance by the Drama King, DJ Kayslay. Directed by Rik Cordero for Three21 Media, the video is what would bring this track to life earning it an award on YouTube.
Currently awaiting the release of "Even The Nights are Better" and still performing, you have yet to see the last of WENDY.
This is only the beginning....

Street Sweepers and Three/21 present the premiere of the “Stop Hittin Me” music video featuring Street Sweepers artist Big Lou, Wendy and DJ Kay Slay. Lou paints a vivid picture about the horrific results of domestic violence. Like Big Lou's "Crack Head" video, the shooting experience for this was highly emotional. Physical and emotional abuse is something we should all recognize and prevent. Extra special thanks to Nancy Mitchell, Brady Nields and all of our amazing actors and artists for finding the truth.
