About Me
ZIG_LAH aka "Sneaky Jones" , the "mysterious" and elusive Hip Hop emcee, was born in Queens, New York but he is carrying his home state on his back.... North Carolina. Although he has been in the local underground circuits for years, like many true ARTist, he was faced with the difficult task of getting his music heard to the masses. Many people from his home town would have dubbed ZIG_LAH the "great hope" for NC. It wasn't until 2004, years after perfecting his craft that he would be able to share that "hope" with the world. "Thats when my Fam, Fam 1st, snatched me up and said look, we got you...its your time and your going to get your music heard! The world needs to hear you Zig!" he recalls. "I always tried to play the back though, very shy, but I see EVERYTHING, you may THINK I am not paying attention, but I am." Already known for ripping microphones at shows throught the Middle Eastern Region aka "Middle East", ZIG_LAH has perfected his flow and delivery in a precise and emotional masterpiece. After several great guest appearances with his extended family, FAM 1st, ZIG_LAH has now created a tremendous buzz in anticipation of his Debut Album. The Mix Cd-"The Life and Times of Sneaky Jones" has already sold more than 15,000 copies in the streets and has branded ZIG_LAH as one of the "next" premier emcees to hit the national and international scene. "The years I spent writing and perfecting my craft, staying humble and grounded helped me to figure out how I wanted to present myself to the world. My music is like a crock pot....it takes patience and time...but the results are a GOOD meal, and I am serving them up in my music." he recalls. "It was a growing stage. I felt like growing with my fam was like a demo that just got pressed up, now I am ready to share my world with the REST of the world." "I always had nothing to lose, but ALOT to gain," ZIG_LAH says of his life. "It is just a great thing to be able to share some of my vision, but you haven't heard ANYTHING yet...the real suprise is going to be on the album. I am just trying to build with my fanbase, my "FAM" base as I like to call them, and meet new people and share my music with them on a personal level, not on some hype machine or to boost my ego, thats not what music is about. I am patient, but I also know that success is right around the corner, let me grow with my people..don't worry, I will be ready." Judging from the response of the Mix Cd, ZIG-LAH is one emcee who actually might live up to his word. After listening to his music and this interview I have officially been converted over to one of those people, his "FAM". I believe you ZIG! You have arrived, my friend.Story by Audrey Cobert-Stress Level Magazine-March 2005
