About Prego;
Formed at the tail-end of 2004, Prego quickly set about the construction of impregnable cordons of guitars, deftly defended by Edd Simpsons delicately distinctive vocals and a dirge-heavy rhythm section.
With a shared affection of the fractured anthemic chimes of Death Cab For Cutie, Grandaddy and Aerogramme, the North London five-piece fast established a fevered following through excessive gigging and aggressive promotion through their .. presence. April 2005 saw the release of The Suffolk Explosion, a 14-track compilation of burgeoning new talent put together by Fightstars Charlie Simpson.
Prego contributed two new recordings to the collection: the linear yet lingering Parachutes & Flying Machines and the searing six-and-a-half minute crescendo that is Waiting Minds the bands remarkable set closer.
An opening slot at Fightstars sold out Electric Ballroom show and UK dates with New Yorks Walking Concert (ex Rival Schools) added to the interest aroused in the band following the albums release. Under the banner, 'Primaries,' Pregos debut EP was released through Glasgows Adorno Records in September to critical acclaim. Rocksound magazine said "Exciting and diverse. Like hearing Longview by way of Cave In and Mew- commercially viable but still wonderfully dynamic. 8/10 (October 2005).
Summer 2006, Andy Stone left the band and Paul Jennings stepped in. Andy played his last gig with Prego the 12th of August. Their single 'Years;Days;Months' is planned to be realeased early 2007, with the B-side 'Trailing'. Prego were featured in Steve Lamacq's show on BBC 6 Music as an unsigned band.
