Anatomy of The Band
It took us about ten weeks to decide on a band name. We came up with ten or so that we liked, but we just couldn't settle down and say, this is it. We can do no better than this name, and roll with it.
We're sort of a restless group of guys that way. We always think that we can do better, and push things further, and reach down deeper. We all came up listening to different stuff, from Jazz fusion, to hip-hop, to Jimi Hendrix, to Prince and Michael Jackson, to classical, and everything in between. So when we come together, there's sort of a tower of Babel vibe, until we melt it down and find the thing that brings it all together. What we do is a mix of a bit of everything. We're not interested in repackaging something that everyone's already heard and then telling you that it's different.
We want you to experience the music, and immediately be completely unable to classify it. If I could choose a quote to be said of us, it would be this: "Doxology, is a blend of everything you've heard and know you love, topped with a sound that you can't quite put your finger on, but that keeps you coming back for more."
There's no formula for life. There shouldn't be for music. It's about art, and expression, and if you're lucky, finding something new that changes everything. If those things could ever be said of our band, than we've done our job.
Comments about Doxology:
"This band really has it all... Great Looks, Amazing Talent, Professionalism and very importantly - Terrific Music... They are the complete package..." Alisa Hashimoto, KPLZ Star 101.5
â€The fundamental orientation seems a fluid blend of rock and neo-soul. Lead vocalist Luke McPherson evokes the tensile urgency of the best neo-soul singers. The musicians demonstrate the skillful flexibility to fullfill all the band's musical ambitions. They are about to make history.†- The Triple Door, Seattle
“Doxology definitely has our vote as “The Band to Watch†this year…They are good looking and sound even better – cutting edge, very NOW! A rare and fresh breath of air…Simply amazing!†- Jennifer Johnson, Diamond Rock Productions
" Doxology fans continue to jam our phone lines each time they visit our morning show. They are definitely heading for stardom. The Seattle Music scene has a pure winner on their hands." - Bender, KISS 106.1FM Personality
Doxology won the National Title for Jillian's Battle of the Bands competition. Competing locally, regionally and then nationally, Doxology beat out over 250 quality bands from around the United States securing the opportunity to open Heineken's AmsterJam music Festival in New York City. This amazing event featured the Red Hot Chili Peppers, 311, Garbage, Diddy and more with tens of thousands of fans in attendance. Adding to their success, Doxology was selected as the only local Seattle band to play at the 7th Largest Fair in the country, The Puyallup Fair. They shared the evening with Hoobastank. Recently, the band was tapped to contribute to Steve Lawson's 9th Annual Christmas in the Northwest CD Project. This Pacific Northwest holiday traditional favorite has featured the likes of Dave Mathews Band, Heart, Kenny G and much more. Lastly, music buddy and American Idol favorite Blake Lewis invited DX to open for his CD Release Party in Seattle Wa.
