This page is run by the City of Haverhill, Massachusetts Police Department. Haverhill is located in northeastern Massachusetts; about 32 miles north of Boston on the New Hampshire border; and about 16 miles from the Atlantic Ocean. Public safety is very important to Haverhill's citizens. In the fall of 1999, Haverhill's new police station was completed. The station is a state-of-the-art facility; housing a centralized communications center for both the police and fire departments. In addition, the new police station is equipped with the most modern crime-fighting, crime-deterring and crime-analyzing tools.
The Haverhill Police Department can not function effectively without the assistance of concerned, responsible residents. We are depending on YOU to tell us whenever you see suspicious persons or activity.Don't worry about "bothering" the police; it is part of our job to investigate suspicious matters. Do not worry about feeling embarrassed if your suspicions are wrong; think instead about what could happen if your suspicions are right and you didn't fill us in.

My Interests

Steps To Becoming A Police Officer
The first step to becoming a police officer within the state of Massachusetts is to take the Civil Service Exam. This exam is given every other year. There is no exam scheduled yet for the upcoming year but it should be given around April of 2007. To get more information on civil service exams please visit www.mass.gov/civilservice

Following taking and passing the civil service exam a department may contact you with an employment opportunity. Once this occurs you will be required to pass a Physical Ability Test as well as a Psychological exam and a Physical. Pass these as well as interviews and the may be off to the MA Police Academy.
