"Picture Ping Pong" is a group exhibition that runs from 2/1/07 – 3/31/07 at Quality Pictures in Portland, Oregon. It features the work of sixteen artists (Picture Ping Pong's top friends!) who post drawings, photos, songs, videos, gags, crack-ups and words of wisdom on each other's MySpace pages. To "picture ping pong" is to visually converse and play through sharing images.
This exhibition represents only a sampling - an attempt to make an objective cross-section of the visual discourse - and represents a small fraction of the artistic activity taking place on MySpace. Most of the 16 artists have only met online and continue to interact almost exclusively via the Internet.
The artists are not a collective. Included are artists from Europe, Canada and the United States. The majority of the artists are working on larger projects from television shows and puppet theaters to large-scale paintings and feature-length films.
