Good friends, old and new...fun, funny, creative, adventurous, encouraging people...And this guy:
Every day I am exposed to more and more of the great music this world has to offer. A few of my current likes/loves: REGINA SPEKTOR, The Killers, Flook, The Shins, The Strokes, Jason Mraz, Nickel Creek, Damien Rice, Adam Merrin, Petula Clark, The 88, DJ Cheb i Sabbah, Warsaw Village Band, Rolando Villazon, Brahms' "Requiem," anything by JS Bach The long and short of it is, it doesn't have to be beautiful or profound all the time, it just has to speak to me, to get me off my feet and out of my mind...make me think, make me laugh, make me cry. That, my friends, is good music.
It's a Wonderful Life, Auntie Mame, Singing in the Rain, West Side Story, The Sound of Music, The Philadelphia Story, Adam's Rib, Rocky IV!, High Fidelity, The Wedding Singer, Love Actually, Once Upon a Time in the West, Garden State, Little Miss Sunshine, the LOTR trilogy, Match Point, Pan's Labyrinth...oh, and anything Christopher Guest. Brilliance.
Veronica Mars, Ugly Betty, Arrested Development, Scrubs, Lost, Family Guy, Rescue Me, Coupling and The Office (both BBC!) Daily Show, Colbert Report, Food Network (particularly "Secret Life of..." with that Jim guy, "Good Eats"-I find Alton Brown extremely amusing, Rachel Ray when I am feeling peppy enough to keep up with her, Emeril Live for his truly amazing recipes), Seinfeld, Orbach-era Law and Order .. width="425" height="350" ..
**Mysteries, especially Martha Grimes**"The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini-wonderful!**Madeleine L'Engle, especially "The Small Rain"**"Bird by Bird" by Anne LaMott, which is a fascinating book about the writing process. I think it is really relevant to anyone who does anything remotely creative or artistic.**Philippa Gregory historical fiction and any history pertaining to Henry VIII and his wives..."The Wives of Henry VIIII" by Antonia Fraser is essential.**Children's books are always at the top of my list. I love Harry Potter and the Chronicles of Narnia, and picture books of all shapes and sizes.
