About Me

I'm a Boston native who settled in northwest CT, about 12 years ago. I'm a systems analyst by day, but my avocations are much more important to me than my vocation. I love to share new experiences with my friends. And I work hard, so that I can play hard. Acquiring toys isn't nearly important as collecting new memories. If I'm not challenged, I'm bored. However, I know when to kick back and watch the wheels turn, too.

I try to be active in the community as both a volunteer and paraprofessional; and at times have been a social activist.

I'm the father of three: 2 adult sons and a pre-teen daughter. In a nutshell they're three good people, who I affectionately call the Prodigal Bike Messenger, the StageMonkey, and the former bass player for "Politikill" and "Monkey H8 Clean".

I don't mind cooking, but hate cooking real meals for myself. It's not fun if I can't sit down and enjoy it with others.

My Interests

Performing Arts and Theater

Mountain Biking, Kayaking, Hiking and Skiing.

Writing and Music, music, music

I'd like to meet:

Not sure..

Major life changes let you know who your real friends are. Turns out there were only a couple, so I bit the bullet and created a space. I'll have to see what happens...

Movies:

Being There, It's a Wonderful Life, the Coen brothers and Polish brothers' work, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Dr. Zhivago, A Knight's Tale, Don Juan deMarco, Dance's with Wolves, Glory.

My total favorite is: Last of the Mohicans.

Seven Years in Tibet, The Postman, Mad Max, Logan's Run, THX 1138, 28 Days Later, Shawn of the Dead, Vertical Limit, K2.

Oh yeah, almost forgot Waiting for Guffman and This is Spinal Tap.

I'll check out anything someone recommends...

Television:

Not much time left to watch shows; but the tube is usually on when I'm home. I lean toward A&E, TLC, TDC, OLN, PBS, and some reality shows. I got a kick out of "The Office", because I lived it, and survived! The Simpsons always makes me laugh. I don't watch much mainstream sports, but will watch some games, although I lean toward things like the Tour de France and World Cup Skiing.

Books:

Once again, eclectic!

Tolkien, John Muir, Jack London, Grisham and Brad Thor, are representative.

Right now, next to my bed are a couple of Robert Fulghum's, a Pablo Neruda, a few legal thrillers, The Outermost House, The Snow Leopard, Walt Whitman, and Shakespeare.

Depends on my mood...

Heroes:

I meet them every day.

Think globally, act locally!"

Here comes the sun...

I left work at the usual time, yesterday, and it was still light out.  It wasn't even dusk!  That is a good thing.  The days are getting longer and another season is passing. It's stran...

A turn of the page...

A good friend said, "It was just a short story and not a chapter in the book".  All of a sudden I'm up to my eyeballs in projects, work, and relationships.  Some is good and some is......

The muse has been absent for so long...

but I've still been writing a little.  Now the goal has to be to collect and reorganize my ramblings.  Clannad and Lunasa have provided my listening music, here at the Bat Cave.  ...

I'm not complaining, but where's the snow?

I've lived here for thirteen years and this is the first winter that we haven't gotten a regular dose of snow every week, after the middle of November. Some days have been Fall-like, and others have b...

Today, it's Festivus for the rest of us...

Well, Ramadan has past, Hannukah is finishing up.  Kwanzaa and Christmas are nearly here, but the retailers have been telling me that the holiday season began on November 1st. My personal favorit...

Just logged on to see what's happening on MySpace and I was hit by the Lennon song (Imagine) I attached to my profile yesterday.  I remembered him yesterday, on the anniversary of his death. ...

I heard an interesting report on the radio last night.  It was Katie Couric, of all people, talking about how it's hard to be grateful when it's hard to be happy.  To partially quote her: "P...
