Ciao! My name is Simone and I'm an italian guitar player. I start playing during the first years of the nineties in a very wonderful period for the rock music. My first influences were the U2 and The Edge (my best guitar player ever...) becuase of their splendid songs and intelligent guitar parts, but also Queen and Brian May's awesome guitar playing. The most rock moment in my life was when I find out that Brian May has done a solo recording with another guitarist. Who can play with Brian May?!? Was impossible for me...but I discover Eddie Van Halen (my second best guitar player ever...). Van Halen influenced the most my guitar playing and throuh David Lee Roth I start loving and study Steve Vai. Steve was a Joe Satriani's student, was the guitarist of Frank Zappa, Van Halen has done a solo for Michael Jackson and in that album Steve Lukather was playing the guitar, Billy Sheenan was the bass player for David Lee Roth's album and was playing with Mr.Big with Paul Gilbert! Well I entered in a tunnel and nowadays I'm always there...Everyday I do wonderful discovery and fabolous music journeys!Today I'm still listen to all of them, but I discover a lot of more stuff and style of music to listen to and to play with.
As a musician I began working early as guitar tutor, I really like this job! I teach regularly in diffrent italian music school like the UM- Universita della Musica in Rome (www.universitadellamusica.com) and I'm on the road, sometimes, doing some clinic or dimostrations in music school or fair. From 1999 I'm a contributor for the most important italian guitar magazine, CHITARRE (www.chitarre.com). I write article, interview, review about cd and music book, columns about techniques and so on. In 2002 and 2003 I recorded two istructional video for the PlaygameMusic (www.playgamemusic.com): The video are "Playing in the style of Ritchie Blackmore" and "Playing inthe style of Eddie Van Halen". In the meanwhile I have a lot of gig in clubs, pubs, Theatres or place around Italy with different bands and singers and sometimes do some recording sessions in recording studios. I have also worked with great musician and guitarist such as Steve Vai, Scott henderson, Carl Verheyen and John Scofield: I was the support and translator for their italian clinics.
I Hope you enjoy to read my music life, thanks fot the visit and keep on rock!
You are welcome in my website and on my forum: www.simonegianlorenzi.com
