Making Friends....The distance we keep Consider our twentieth century lifestyle-how we secure ourselves against unwelcomed personal invasion. Many of us live in high rise apts where we meet our neighbours once a month in the lobby.Others reside in the suburbs, surrounded by high fences and security systems. We have pte tel nos and guard dogs at the gate.We consciously eliminate the possibility of any unhappy encounters-but we have managed to cut out lots of happy ones too. When we go to public places,we take our blank stares.Blank stares are a standard equipment for distancing urself in elevators, subway, trains, and supermarkets. The blank look says," i don know u,there's nothin happening in my head, don talk to me cause u might be a wierdo" Is all tis bad? No.It is not necessarily bad.We live in exciting(and very convenient) times, but we need to understand wat is happening. There are enormous pressures pulling us away from people. If u want personal contact these days,u have to make an effort. A sweet life is a shared experience. Our greatest joys, our most precious moments, our toughest challenges and our most loving times are mostly shared with people. Our greatest learning experiences come from being with people. To have a memorable stay on tis planet we must be prepared to knock down some barriers-make a special effort to meet,be with, get close to people. ....We have to work at spending time with people, and make it a priority.

Ahh..the epitaph of knowledge. Will look into it. Dan Brown really rocks with his twist and fact vs fiction comparision. For the uninitiated, The DaVinci Code is a must read. It will bring a whole new revelation to Historians alike.
