David&Oliat-Hilmen&Hatfield is a duo playing music erected from the unique tradition of Norwegian Folk Music, inspired by the legendary mountains and fjords of Norway. We put all of our effort in making Norwegian Folk Music more accessable for a greater audience. In our music you will be able to find something that will attracts you immensly, regardless of neither age nor identity. Our experience through concerts is that what we play has a huge impact on the stereotypical view on Norwegian Folk Music, which is, unfortunately found in every audience we play for. Luckily, we have succeeded in changing that.With our instruments, the Hardanger-Fiddle and the Cello, we create a truly novel sound-image containing specters of colours, vibrations and an atmosphere of magnificent grandeur. As far as we know, combinating and uniting the rich and genuine sound of the Hardanger-Fiddle with the warm and intimate tone of a cello, is today only done by David&Oliat-Hilmen&Hatfield.Based inside the fabulous world of Norwegian Folk Music we bring with us outside what we feel is worth sharing with a bigger audience. We constantly work with finding elements from many other directions and trends within all other forms of music.
