Zion

Music is a continuous worldwide theory that can never be proven. It can only be studied by each individual making it a personal way of life. Zion is an artist that has emerged from the soul music genre studying all aspects of it from gospel, jazz, classical, to rhythm and blues. Born in Jackson, MS in the early 80's molded his musical talent since day one. He was brought up in church singing to eventually becoming a church musician playing for churches throughout the local area. His beginnings in the church taught him how to be a true musician at heart. His mother is a phenomenal vocalist that had a major influence on his musicianship as well as his younger sister. With his mom performing the duties of a single mother raising her children the best way she could, played an imperative part in his life as well. All he had was music as a way of escape from becoming part of what society calls the “streets”. He went on to sing in stage plays and talent shows in school preparing him for his soon to be fans. His musical concept is a blend between new-soul and neo-classical with a jazz improvision. Zion is a composer, arranger, musician, artist, vocalist, and songwriter making music for the soul from the soul. No matter what musical style he will be labeled as, he will always be part of the soul movement. He plans on planting musical seeds all over the world hoping to continue the legacy of soul music forever.
