Saint Katherine of Alexandria. Not only is she my namesake, but she was argumentative and smart. She was born rich and was very beautiful, but she was very vain. I am beautiful and smart but not at all vain. Saitn Katherine of Alexandria told her mother that she would only marry someone who was richer,more beautiful, and smarter than her. So her mother took her to a religious leader who told her GOD was richer, smarter, and more attractive than her. Hence she was one of the first 'brides of Christ'. The evil Emperor Maxentius wanted the lovely Katherine for himself but she was alreayd married to Christ. So he tried to break her faith. She refused to chane and he sent 50 wise men to convince her. Instead she converted them all to Christianity, so Maxentius had all 50 wise men killed in a fit of rage. He then tried to kill Katherine by breaking her on the wheel but the wheel broke instead, it exploded sending sharp wood shards everywhere and killing onlookers in the crowd. That is why she is the patron saint of firework, and why they names the firework the Katherine wheel after her. YAY for strong, beautiful and smart women who also like fireworks.
