About Me

I am Jenissa, a lover of beauty. For me, to thrive on beauty, is to experience life to its fullest. To that extent, kind, compassionate people inspire me. Lush forests, tranquill waters & abundant flora and fauna soothe me. Festivity delights me. In short, anything that captures love, ingenuity, gaiety, opulence, peace and all the best traits of humanity attracts me. This said, it may come as no surprise that I am an artist: clothing designer and writer. I am now working towards building my line Ieri. Ieri's the indigenous name for Trinidad, my beloved Caribbean island, (which partially sets the colour palette & energy for the line). Ieri celebrates the beauty of the black woman. It yields the spirit of Nefertiti, Tiye, Makeda, Candace and so many more who invented high fashion. Ieri reminds the black woman that she's a goddess. Although, I'm intent on encouraging self-pride through Ieri, the line is inclusive to any person interested in socially-conscious fashion. I know that there are many, like myself who believe that fashion need not be superficial, we can effect positive change through beautiful clothes !
