caTekk

Introducing caTekk ( pronounced si-ei-tek) : ca stands for Christoph Abele, Tekk for techno. So the name tells you everything you need to know: Christoph Abele has been both playing and producing techno for years now, with tremendous dedication.

caTekk was merely a teen when he replaced his Lego bricks with a mixer and turntables, after that things got going: first gigs at the age of 16, first residency in kreiSlauf club in Innsbruck at the age of 19. After a short but important identity crisis, caTekk moved from Salzburg to Vienna. This marked the beginning of a prosperous DJ- career, soon followed by the present highlight - caTekk..s first release on the Flexschallplatten label. The debut bears the name ....Funny Little Clouds.... and also appears on the Urban Art Forms (Austrian biggest electronic music festival) CD-compilation.

After a tinnitus-induced six months pause in 2005, caTekk began concentrating more and more on the production of his own tracks. However, his enthusiasm for his other true passion – playing records – remains unchanged. The proof of this are regular gigs in the legendary Viennese club Flex, particularly in the context of ..Crazy.. parties, which take place every Tuesday, as well as his own event series ....Resolut.... , where he played side by side with Onur Özer, Lee van Dowski, Matthias Tanzmann and Frank Martiniq.

Both as a DJ and as a producer caTekk is renowned for his unerring instinct for creating a high level of suspense, for his sophisticated technique and his almost infantile playfulness. What matters to him are harmony, variety and the possibility of expressing grand emotions, rather than the superficial, stereotypical categories such as minimal, tech-house or electro. Even though each and every one of his DJ-sets as well as his tracks resembles no other, caTekk..s sound is still easily recognizable: it comes like a bomb, takes you by surprise and gets you a one-way ticket to the dance floor.

Although his achievements so far have been remarkable and many, caTekk (22) stands only at the beginning of a promising career. Numerous gigs, both at home and abroad, as well as unforgettable nights of the ....Resolut.... series, and also new releases from this member of the Flexschallplatten crew can definitely be expected. Because, after all these years, the one thing that matters to Christoph Abele is - music.
