im just a guy who got tired of paying for recordings that were expensive and never came out right. now, ive bought my own equipment and will be recording my own band myself. after hearing the quick recording/master i did for one of my bands songs(covet - the great schism), im convinced i can record others and come up with great results.
there are mp3s in the music player that will give you some idea of what you can expect when you do a tracked recording with me. these recordings reflect the mastering i do as well. (performance/equipment is a big factor also)
Quick FAQ:
1)Where is the studio located?·The studio located in my house in North Port. I feel the environment in a house is very relaxed thus letting people record their tracks without stressing...(too much). If you are an out of town band you're more than welcome to stay the night at my house, just bring your own blankets and pillows.
2)Rates? Deposits?
·As of now im charging by the song @ $100 a song(as of 6/12/07). In my opinion people track better when they aren't worried about the clock. Also, I only record during the weekends due to my 'day job'. With that said, I record a MAXIMUM of 5 songs(3min a song average) in a weekend. Two days is plenty of time to get this amount of material done. If in the unlikely case everything does not get done in time I charge $15 a hour for any more time.
As for the deposits, I will need 25% of the total amount to book your time. I've been canceled on too much lately to not do anything about it. This is nothing personal. If your band pays the deposit, and does not come in on the scheduled day, you forfeit your deposit(Please communicate with me if something comes up ASAP to prevent that from happening!!!).
3)House Instruments?
·Sabian AA 16'' Metal Crash
·Sabian AAX 18'' Metal-X Crash
·Sabian Xs 14'' Hi Hats
·Stagg 20'' Ride (it sounds nice trust me)
·Wuhan 16'' China
·Ludwig Accent Custom Fusion Drumkit
·Iron Cobra Kick Pedals
·As for guitars and what not you're on your own. I do recommend you use some kind of TUBE amp and a guitar that costs more than $300. BORROW FROM FRIENDS IF YOU HAVE TO! If you cannot acquire a tube amp, i do have a very decent solid state head you may use.
4)Does it get boring recording?
·YES! It is extremely boring for some people when others are tracking. I recommend you bring a laptop, book, or gaming system. I have a few dvds/gaming systems, so ask if you're bringing anything.
5)Why should I record with you?
·I'm a musician. I will know if a part is off/note is bad and tell you thus making a better recording. I can also offer help with production if you may want it. I'm an easy person to work with and care about what my work sounds like.
DOs, and DON'Ts
DO:·Change your guitar strings/drum heads before coming in.
·Practice your songs/think of any special production you may want in certain parts.
·Bring your own drinks! Grab a 24 pack of water for yourselves.
DON'T:
·Come in with a bad attitude.
·Make fun of a band mate while he/she is tracking.
·Trash my house.
·Smoke/Drink/Smoke in my house while we're recording or mixing.
·Poop in my bathroom....(j/k but seriously light a match)
