Hiromi Kasuga

Pianist, Composer, Arranger

About Me

Hiromi moved to the United States of America from her native land of Japan and enrolled as a student at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. After her graduation from Berklee, Hiromi made the pilgrimage to New York and immersed herself in the jazz community where She continued her Piano and improvisation studies with some of the most prolific artists on the world stage today, including Jazz Piano legend Kenny Barron, Pianist Bruce Barth and Soprano Saxophone virtuoso David Liebman. Her passion for arranging for larger ensembles led Hiromi to further studies with the incomparable Jim McNeely, (Pianist & Arranger for the Mel Lewis Village Vanguard Jazz Orchestra), and Pianist Mike Abene. In May 2004, Hiromi earned a Masters of Music degree from the prestigious Manhattan School of Music and was subsequently selected to be a member of the BMI Jazz Composers Workshop. This is no mean feat in itself, considering only a limited number of applicants are accepted into this program annually. In January 2005 She was invited by the Blue Note in New York to take part in their East Meets West Jazz Concert Series. Needless to say her music was very well received by audiences and critics alike.Aside from being an exceptionally gifted Pianist, Hiromi is also a prolific composer and arranger in her own right. In September 2005 she accepted an offer from the music department of Texas Tech University under the directorship of Alto Saxophonist Brad Leali to be Arranger In Residence for their Jazz Orchestra.
