Crash Course

Long Live The Future

About Me

The Boston Based Crash Course was formed in 1988 by Wayne Macpherson (ex Dead Meat). He began experimenting with dance beats and science fiction samples at home using a Casio keyboard and a DJ mixer. The first songs consisted of atmospheric house music with samples from prank phone calls done to the neighborhood jerks. Wayne met Luke Santoro when they worked together at the same company during that year. In the following years Wayne continued to perfect the song making process while giving Luke tapes to listen to. In 1991 Wayne asked Luke to join the project . The first Crash Course cassette titled Brace For Impact was completed in June of 1991.The second Crash Course release was called "Free Samples/Bits'n Pieces" and was released in the fall of 1991. This tape included Earwig a song written in five minutes that would become the favorite of fans and critics. This tape shows a new direction with vocals being directly recorded over the music instead of being sampled. In late summer 1993 the third Crash Course cassette "May Day/Nite School" was released. The background music sets the tone for darker sounding than usual music and a slightly depressed overall mood of the members of Crash Course at that time. In spite of this the band still maintained its sick sense of humor. The song Do It Now features vocals by Dave DiFabio. The next cassette was a greatest hits collection called "Long Live The Future The Singles Vol.1" released on New Year s Eve 1993-94.This cassette features the best songs from the previous three releases with three new songs and two re-mixes of older songs. The final home-made cassette was "Stunts Unltd. Ltd.-EP" released in 1995. This ten song cassette features Brace For Impact a song that includes another guest appearance by Dave DiFabio yelling at people in Boston out of car windows put to music. In 1995 members of the band Happy The Clown approached Crash Course with the idea of putting out a split cassette. Crash Course agreed and went into the studio in the fall of 1995 to start recording tracks for what would be titled "Pin Cushion". the title was later changed to "Trim The Tree".Throughout 1996 and 1997 work continued on the full length CD YAK! The YAK! CD featured re-worked versions of previously released Crash Course songs. The CD contains 14 tracks with hidden tracks tacked onto the end of some songs. The song " Guy in the Sky " used in the movie " What I Did When I Was Away" by Ted Cormey More info here:http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1808742827/infoDuring 1997 Crash Course was asked to write lyrics and provide vocals to the song Lewis Lent for Happy The Clown. This song appears on their release, Sicka Da Bullshit, which was released in February of 1998. Crash Course performed the song on stage with The Clown two times in the fall of 1997.Work began on the next Crash Course release titled Lo-Tek! in early 2001. The sound is much better on this cd than on Yak! The LoTek! CD came out on 4/8/05Crash Course are now working on the third Cd.
