Old Fashioned Tramp Attack

In the early days of Tramp Attack before they had even got out of fat Matt's sweetshop, the lineup consisted of Matt Barton, Ian Lane, Kristian Ealey, Chris Marshall and two future Bandits, Scott Dulson and Tony Dunne. Somehow, somewhere along the line this bedraggled band of meffs shifted into what was to become the first gigging lineup of Tramp Attack. James Redmond joined on bass and brought along the guitar wondermastery of Dave (The Kid) McCabe.After acquiring a rundown room from the brothers Speed, they set to work on the few songs they had written. Their next task was to cobble a demo tape together to get gigs. The songs on this profile were recorded on a four track portastudio with Sean Payne and Russ Pritchard (Zutons) chipping in on tambourine and backing vocals, Boyan Choudhury may have also been there too. Gary's Van was about Gary Murphy who used to drunkenly taxi people around in his AutoWindscreens van before he founded The Bandits. The tape got them the gigs and the rest is history....The Tramps inevitably created a sensation within the local 'scene' after playing everywhere that would have them. As a social experiment and to save on busfares they eventually moved in together. Much merriment was had by all.But there's only so long you can live on beans and noodles.The band were approached by a small local label run by Mike Badger and Paul Hemmings. They were ushered to a local studio to record the demos you hear on this page. Five songs were recorded in that one day, mostly live and nailed on the first take.
