About Me

Wow This is interesting to me - to actually sit down and write about myself - again Wow! Sometimes its hard to stay still and quiet long enough to think about only you. Well here goes - I'm a frustrated, creative being. I love creating and working with my hands. I create and design jewelry. I love the way gemstone beads feel in my hands -tiger's eye, onyx, malachite, African amber. I think that through the beads I somehow feel connected to the earth. Right now I'm really into knitting. Really digging the rhythmic movement of the needles. It relaxes me. I can just chill with the needles and the yarn and think about everything or absolutely nothing at all. Right now I'm finishing my Masters degree in human resource management. I have 4 more classes to go. Don't ask what I plan to do with it because right now I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up :) I'd like to own my own business. I have a couple of ideas that I am working on and hope to launch them in 2007. I've been married to the same guy since I was 17. It has not been easy, but as in most things, the stuff worth having is never easy. On the whole it's been pretty damn good. We've had some knock down drag out fights, but as hard as we fight - that's as hard as we love. I've got 3 pretty good kids - Melodie, Aaron and Meredith and 2 cats - Tabitha and Neno. I love cats and my husband Thomas sometimes calls me Carla the Cat or kittykat for short - you figure it out. I'm a pretty spiritual person, but no religious affiliation. My perspective on God and religion has radically changed over the last few years, especially after reading Conversations with God - that really spoke to me more than I can say. Right now I'm living by the principle, "Make a decision in life and the Universe will manifest itself to support that decision".The only person who can beat me is me.Carlamyspace

My Interests

Meeting new people, jewelry making, beading, knitting, music, books, traveling. I love concerts and plays, going to the movies and out to dinners. As as most women I love to shop although I'm shopping more on line than in the malls.

I'd like to meet:

Don't really have anybody in particular I like to meet. I'm not really into star-chasing. I would probably be tongue-tied anyway. But I guess if I had to put down someone, I'd say I'd like to meet the next person who I felt a real connection to. Someone that I felt so comfortable with I could share my life with, not the superficial B.S. we tend to share with folks we don't really know. You know, give them the real inside me, not that face that we show the world.

Music:

I love all types of music: hip-hop, jazz, house, blues and of course old school, 'cause hey I'm old school. Music is so basic to our beings and I can groove to almost any kind of music because it transcends all boundaries. Right now I'm listening to Jaguar Wright, some old-school Coolio, Charlie Wilson, and the list goes on and on.

Movies:

Like everybody else I like all kinds of movies, but my all time favorites are Silverado, Starman, Love Actually, Pretty Woman, Soul Food, Malcolm X, Tombstone, True Lives, 16 Candles, 9 1/2 Weeks, The Color Purple, Kill Bill, and the list goes on and on.

Television:

I'm a big fan of the Wire and I absolutely love the Sopranos, although I was extremely disappointed with last season. Who wrote that crap! Anyway, I really dig Deadwood, Entourage and just about anything HBO puts out. I'm really a cable freak. And if I'm going to be truthful, I'm a real QVC watcher. I buy a lot of s--t from that channel. Hey why go out walking all over a mall when I can order what I want from the comfort of my bedroom. My kids tease me about it of course, but they have been the recipients of a lot of QVC stuff.

Books:

Conversation with God; Wicked (loved the take on the Wicked Witch of the West!); Science of the Mind; any knitting book, but a big fan of The Knit Stitch by Sally Melville; The 2-Second Commute; The Between and My Soul To Keep by Tannarive Due; Lessons in Truth; Creative Visualization; and - Celestine Prophecy (sets downs some powerful truths in an adventure setting. This is one of my Wow books.

Heroes:

My heroes are everyday folks like my Mom. She has done so much with her life and is one of the most open-minded people I know. In her early 70s she is a fantastic photographer and has gotten several photos published. My second hero is my oldest daughter Melodie. She really has her head on straight and is so proud of who and what she is (I'd like to think that I had a lot to do with that). And I would like to give tribute to all the men and women who have transcended some of the ugliness of what life has presented them and made something special for themselves, their families, and ultimately the world.

My Blog

We all have a voice.

I had deleted my thoughts on a number of things and one of myspace friends asked me why I had taken them down. I guess at the time I thought noone was really interested in what I might have to say. ...
