About Me

I began my photography in 1991. I went to a little photography trade school, finished that and what I didn't learn there I got from books in the library. I spent 2 years here in Mpls assisting for Daytons' and many local photographers until I made the decision to move to L.A. and see if I knew what I was doing. After a month I landed my first assisting gig with a local photographers shooting Joan Van Ark from Knots Landing. I found out very fast working in Hollyweird is a whole insane experience. I eventually landed an assisting gig with Dewey Nicks for a Loreal commercial and was asked by Lori Goldstein(stylist for Rolling Stone Magazine) to work with Annie Leibovitz(Vanity Fair Senior Photographer, Magnum Photographer) to work as a 3rd assistant and after three months i was asked by Annie to move to first assistant and move to New York.. I did and spent the next year working my ass off..I was dually impressed by Annie's ability to pull a rabbit outt of a hat when it came to getting the job done..That was 1994 and one year later I moved back to Mpls, Mn to work here for a year and eventually I moved to Boulder, CO in 1995. I spent that year living in a log cabin with a friend up in the canyon snowboarding every day and working in Boulder for various magazines. I then moved to Vail, Co to immerse myself in total isolation in the passes of Colorado. I spent the next 4 years shooting photos of pros for Transworld Snowboarder and Heckler magazines. In between the seasons I traveled to San Diego and learned how to make snowboards. I also spent a summer in San Francisco shooting a story of 8 skaters who made art. I spent another summer in Mt. Hood in Oregon shooting snowboard camps. After Vail, CO I decided it was time to move back to the beach(I grew up in Florida) so I moved to Virginia Beach, Va. I spent a year there working for Ninevolt Magazine as a Senior Photographer photographing bands each day for one year. I then moved a little west to Norfolk, Va to continue working for Ninevolt but also working for Hampton Roads Monthly Mag. I eventually felt it was time to move back north and moved to Mpls, MN where I have lived for 4 years and counting. I have spent my time working locally booking, promoting and shooting photos for bands. Recently, I have shot with Paul Westerberg, and Bob Mould. I have shot over 10,000 images since 1991 and counting. My photography has been published in these music zines:Rolling Stone, Spin, Magnet Magazine, No Depression, Harp, Paste, Amplifier, Ninevolt, Warp, Stick, Raygun and for years I was published in Transworld Snowboarder, Thrasher, Slap skateboard magazines.
