What's Up Red Sox Nation!
Now that the baseball season is almost over, I will be able to enter more blogs as to what I am up to. This past summer I had the pleasure of playing numerous charity softball games with police departments all along the northeast. I had a great time and met a lot of great people and some serious Red Sox fans. It sure is different from when I was playing 20 years ago!!
Please keep checking back on this page as I will be posting pictures from many of my appearances this past summer. I will also post a schedule of events in which I will be participating. So if you see me out and about, holler!!
This past week, I had the pleasure of speaking at the Youngsville NH Little League Banquet. I met a lot of great young, enthusiastic ballplayers. I have posted some pictures from this banquet, so feel free to browse.
I will also be participating in a 38+ Baseball Tourney in Clearwater FL on November 1-4. It should be a blast and if you are in the area, please stop by. On November 9th, I will be in attendance at the Red Sox Hall of Fame induction dinner at the Convention Center. Check out the Red Sox website for details of tickets to this great event.
In the upcoming weeks, I will also be offering autographed photos with portions of the proceeds going to various charities...so please check back and help me raise funds for my designated charities.
On a sadder note, this past week, Buck O'Neil passed away. He is a true loss to Baseball and Humanity in general. It truly is ashame that Buck was never inducted into the Hall of Fame. But that is another story for another time. I had the pleasure of meeting Buck last year when the Negro League Museum honored me. He is a true diplomat and gentleman. The work he has done for the Negro Leagues is immeasurable. He will be a great loss for Baseball.
Hey...what about that Tiger pitching staff. Man, anytime you got a guy that can dial it up to 102...you might as well start swinging from the dugout. As for the Mets...WOW! You can call that last pitch Wainright threw to Beltran as "Uncle Charlie", "A Hook", but that reminded me of my curve..."The Yellow Hammer".
Until next time...PEACE!!!
