Mike Metzger
OAKLEY FEATURED ATHELTE IS MIKE METZGER!!
Mike “The Godfather†Metzer is clearly a busy man! Loving life as a MX legend, artist, and father of two, Metzger has his hands full for sure. We had the pleasure of meeting up with Mike recently and he was super down to earth and happy to sign autographs and answer the question of his biggest fans! Thanks Mike!!!
Tate: What has it been like over the years to get paid doing something you love?
MM: It has been a lot of hard work! I have been blessed with a great career riding motorcycles. I have had many great moments mixed with a lot of injuries and pain.
Derek: Do you play golf?
MM: I have played a little. Nothing really to speak of.
Sasha: What did you do to prepare for the Caesar jump?
MM: I practiced jumping my new ramp at 110’ and made sure I was real confident for the Caesar jump.
Lynn: What are your plans for the Holidays?
MM: I plan on having a Christmas day party for my family and opening a lot of presents.
Will: What do you think you would be doing if the dirt bike never came into your life?
MM: I would be a full time graphic artist and painting a lot. I really enjoy painting canvas.
Oakley(that is really his name!): What was your inspiration for the Caesar jump?
MM: ESPN offered me a chance to do the jump and I took it!
Jay: How long did it take you to learn your first back flip and did you have a foam pit?
MM: After Carey Hart did a flip in 2000 at the Gravity Games it took me almost two years to prepare to do it off a ramp at 45’. First I did flips into the side of a hill then I took a ramp to the sand dunes.
Crystal: Any hobbies or interests outside of MX?
MM: I like BMX, skateboarding, truck racing, and doing artwork.
Mark: How do you think Oakley has helped you with your career?
MM: Riding for Oakley is something I wanted to do as a kid. I always knew they were the best and wanted to work with the best. Being affiliated with the best sponsors gives you a lot of confidence.
Chad: How many tats do you have and are you done?
MM:I have so many and a few of them need to be finished. They hurt and take a lot of time.
