She grew up listening to some of the best in hip hop music. In Junior High she used to write lyrics and perform for her friends, even a few times performing in front of a public crowd, but she never really took it seriously, or tried to persue any lifelong career at it. Music in general was always in her heart. Anyone who saw her perform and who heard her lyrical skills would encourage her to do something more with it, but she wasn't interested in persueing it at the time. For her, she just enjoyed writing and rhyming to the music. It was more of a hobby than anything. As life would have it, Nicky settled down and began to make a family, and so she stopped writing and started listening more to the music that was being played over the airwaves. Initially, she pretty much liked what she heard and enjoyed listening, but as time went on, things in the game began to change. To Nicky, she didn't hear too many females whom she felt had the lyrical skills to be a part of the rap industry in the first place. Nicky seems to feel that one reason the rap game is dominated by the males is because the females are not showing any lyrical skills that can stand up to them. She feels that the ones who were blessed enough to have found themselves a record deal aren't representing as they should be, for the females in hip hop. Nicky feels that the females have more to talk about than just sex, she feels that is okay sometimes, but there needs to be a talent there that sets the women out as talented as well, and she feels this CAN be done. She's here to demonstrate just that! As she states, "Women have things to talk about too, and not just fucking. We experience alot that can be talked about. If we only talk about sexual topics, people are under the misconception that that's all we can do, and this is not the case." Well, let's hear what this young woman has to say!
